Product Manager

Vectara provides a Trusted Generative AI platform that allows organizations to rapidly create a ChatGPT-like experience (an AI assistant) which is grounded in the data, documents and knowledge that they have. Our serverless RAG-as-a-Service also solves critical problems required for enterprise adoption, namely: reduces hallucination, provides explainability / provenance, enforces access control, allows for real-time updatability of the knowledge and mitigates intellectual property / bias concerns from large language models (LLMs). Our founding team includes industry pioneers and experts in neural information retrieval and distributed systems from Google.

Role Overview:

We are looking for a Product Manager to help drive commercial success on Vectara’s GenAI solutions.  You will help set strategy, conduct user research, define requirements, and oversee execution of cross-functional teams as we build the best retrieval augmented generation (RAG) and semantic search platform on the planet.  We’re still very much a startup, which means “traditional” well-siloed roles and candidates are less well suited than those that can learn and act on their feet.  You might be doing data analysis one day to analyze the success of a recent feature and you might be presenting to the leadership team, a high-profile customer, or board the next day.  Every day is different, exciting, and a “learn how to get it done” attitude will be a top priority.

Responsibilities:

• Collect and measure user feedback: both explicitly through discussions and implicitly through usage signals
• Strategically prioritize the product roadmap for impactful GenAI solutions based on feedback and signals from the broader industry, our users, and field teams
• Drive internal enablement of new/improved user experience features
• Collaborate on pricing and packaging to optimize Vectara business outcomes
• Author detailed requirements documents that distill user needs into actionable development
• Work across stakeholders to identify dependencies for upcoming feature releases

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in product management in a technical B2B product
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Familiarity with multiple deployment models and the unique requirements that come with them: we’re currently operating a shared SaaS model, but will soon be deploying in VPCs, multiple cloud providers/regions, and on-prem
• Strong technical acumen, with a solid grasp on delivering high quality DX and UX for technical audiences
