Supplier Quality Engineer
The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for ensuring the quality of components and materials provided by external suppliers. This role involves managing supplier relationships, resolving quality issues, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring that suppliers meet all technical, contractual, and compliance requirements.
What you’ll do:
- Work with Purchasing to communicate with suppliers to identify and correct quality problems.
- Support supplier quality objectives and maintain appropriate supplier and component history and records.
- Manage the Material Review Board (MRB) to provide disposition of non-conforming material in a timely and economical manner and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Work closely with receiving inspectors to monitor supplier performance and consult on measurement techniques.
- Collect, analyze, and report supplier performance data; identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop, revise, and maintain process documentation to support quality improvement.
- Measure and analyze key supplier quality performance data; make recommendations on specific opportunities to improve quality.
- Coordinate with Engineering & Purchasing teams to ensure supplier compliance with technical & contractual requirements.
- Evaluate & qualify suppliers based on their ability to meet product and scheduling requirements.
- Managing corrective action program for suppliers to ensure communication and resolution in a timely manner.
- Conduct supplier audits to ensure compliance with internal and industry quality standards.
- This position requires up to 25% travel.
What you need:
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or University in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical field.
- AND two years related experience.
- OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2-5 years of Auditing experience to ISO 9001 or equivalent
- Strong mechanical aptitude; experience with castings, machining, and fabrication processes required
- Experience with reviewing and approving first article samples and data, material certifications and traceability.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 or other quality management systems.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
