Business Development Specialist - Radiometric

POSITION SUMMARY

The Business Development Specialist is responsible for growing VEGA’s business in an assigned product, business segment, and/or geographic territory.  They will identify opportunities, develop and implement strategies, and provide leadership to our sales organization to grow sales of the assigned business area. They will work in concert with sales management and product management to achieve alignment and leverage resources when necessary.  This position will be based in Houston or the state of Texas and will require up to 40% overnight travel.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify, prospect, and establish relationships with strategic customers/partners to meet corporate objectives and increase market share and profitability of VEGA products and services within assigned market(s). Make effective presentations at all levels in client organizations.  Specific targets may include but are not limited to Corporate offices, Original Equipment Manufacturers, Integrators, Engineering Firms, and end-user accounts.
  • Identify and communicate areas for VEGA to best align with client needs and strategic direction to capture future growth opportunities.
  • Team with marketing to develop value messaging, plans, and programs for assigned market(s) consistent with market demands and long-term profitability. Collaborate with marketing to assist with sales tools, event planning, trade shows, promotional items, etc. as needed.
  • Analyze competitor strategies and recommend product positioning and pricing strategies to counter competitive forces and products.
  • Manage strategic and large dollar volume sales projects for assigned market(s) as needed.
  • Identify, communicate and work through customer problems, issues and opportunities. Make business decisions that mutually benefit both VEGA and our corporate clients.
  • If product-focused, gather strategic data on VEGA and competitive product performance/gaps and provide feedback to Product Management for future product development.
  • If regionally-focused, collaborate with local sales management to optimize resource deployment and avoid confusion by customers.
  • Use TopVis to effectively plan/document activity and engage sales team when needed at the local level.
  • Track annual spend of assigned market(s) for analysis and reporting to management.
  • Depending on assigned market(s), this position will require regular travel (up to 50%) and frequent virtual meetings.

QUALITY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Focus on customer satisfaction through continuous improvement
  • Understand, implement and maintain the Quality Policy of VEGA Americas.
  • Identify and implement corrections to problems and opportunities for improvement, both individually and through teams.
  • Follow procedures and work instructions in compliance with ISO 9001:20
  • As applicable, assure that the product meets drawings and customer requirements. Identify and prevent further processing of non-conforming parts or processes.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • AND two to four years’ experience selling VEGA products into the heavy process industries.
  • OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Proficient in the following computer software programs: TopVis
  • Microsoft Office Products

COMPANY PROVIDED EQUIPMENT

Employee is provided Company-owned communications equipment and is responsible for its security. Employee is expected to use care to avoid losing or breaking equipment. If provided an iPad or iPhone Employee is required to have the equipment available during non-work hours and respond promptly to business related phone or e-mail messages.
