Field Technician
WHY VEIR?
VEIR is enabling a new generation of compact, efficient, high-power, and long-distance power delivery solutions, solving bottlenecks that exist across the entire electricity value chain, from generation through to data center server racks. VEIR's low voltage superconducting solutions are enabling new power delivery architectures in the world’s largest data centers and our higher voltage solutions are poised to revolutionize the development of electricity transmission and distribution lines. VEIR is preparing for rapid growth as we seek to solve critical challenges facing data center developers, electricity generation developers, and utilities around the world.
As a Field Technician, you will be a hands-on member of VEIR’s deployment and operations team. Your first 3–6 months will be spent primarily at VEIR HQ learning our system end-to-end, how it’s built, how it operates, and how it gets installed at customer sites.
As VEIR begins deploying pilot systems, you will transition into a customer-facing field role, supporting on-site installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of VEIR’s superconducting power systems. This is a highly practical, learn-by-doing role with significant growth potential as VEIR scales deployments.
What You’ll Do
During Your First 3–6 Months (HQ-Based Ramp)
- Learn VEIR’s superconducting power system architecture, components, and operating principles
- Support system assembly, integration, and testing at VEIR HQ
- Gain hands-on experience with:
- Mechanical and electrical installation practices
- Cryogenic system components and handling procedures
- Instrumentation, sensors, and basic controls interfaces
- Learn and document (as needed) installation procedures, safety protocols, and documentation standards
- Learn and apply VEIR’s product quality standards, installation specifications, and acceptance criteria
- Develop an understanding of inspection procedures and support routine inspections of deployed systems to ensure performance, reliability, and safety
- Learn preventive and corrective maintenance procedures for fielded systems, including documentation and escalation of issues
- Work closely with Engineering, System Integration, and Operations teams to understand how VEIR systems are deployed in the field
During Pilot Deployments & Beyond
- Travel to customer sites as part of VEIR’s installation and deployment team
- Support on-site installation of VEIR systems, including mechanical, electrical, and cryogenic components
- Assist with system commissioning, checkout, and functional testing
- Troubleshoot issues during installation and early operation, escalating complex issues back to engineering as needed
- Provide clear field feedback to VEIR engineering teams to improve designs, documentation, and processes
- Support maintenance, diagnostics, and issue resolution during pilot operations
To be successful in this role
- You'll bring a hands-on technical background in field service, installation, maintenance, or technician roles
- You're comfortable working with physical hardware, tools, and equipment in lab and field environments
- You have a willingness to learn complex systems and work across mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems
- Ability to travel to customer sites during deployment phases
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Clear communicator who works well with engineers, technicians, and customers
- Experience with electrical systems, industrial equipment, HVAC, cryogenics, or power infrastructure
- Experience working at customer sites, construction sites, data centers, or industrial facilities
- Familiarity with instrumentation, sensors, or troubleshooting electromechanical systems
VEIR is committed to equal pay for equal work in its compensation practices. The base salary range for this position in the U.S. is $65,000 - $80,000 per year + equity + benefits. A candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications, job level, supervisory status, and location.
