Remote

Velir is an established mid-sized agency with a top-tier portfolio of clients, ranging from the world’s largest non-profits to Fortune 500 brands. As of 2023, Velir acquired Brooklyn Data Company, a premier data and analytics consultancy focused on leadership, process improvement, implementation, and advanced analytics.

At Velir, we believe people are our greatest asset. Our culture is built on a foundation of trust, collaboration, and continued improvement. We strive for excellence in everything we do, embracing challenges as opportunities for growth. Our success is driven by a shared passion for making a positive impact on our customers, our communities and each other. We are a remote first company that offers competitive pay and excellent benefits.

Overview

Velir x Brooklyn Data is looking for a Sales Hunter to drive new customer acquisition for our Data and AI consulting practice. This is an individual contributor role for a strategic seller who thrives on the "chase." You will be responsible for opening doors, working closely with our Data & AI partners, navigating a variety of situations including complex enterprise sales cycles, and positioning Velir x Brooklyn Data as the premier trusted partner for strategic consulting all the way through to modern data stack solutions. Your success will be measured by your ability to consistently build a pipeline and be that “sales QB” that drives all the way through the sales process and close high-value, data-driven solutions that solve our client’s business problems.

Responsibilities

  • Outbound Prospecting: Identify and penetrate new accounts through direct hunting, social selling, and leveraging your existing network.
  • Partner Ecosystem: Proactively co-sell with key technology partners (Snowflake, Databricks, dbt, Domo, Sigma and others) to identify and win "new business" opportunities.
  • Full-Cycle Sales Ownership: Lead the entire sales process using value-based selling frameworks (e.g., MEDDPICC or Challenger) from initial cold outreach and qualification to final contract negotiation and closing.
  • Strategic Territory Development: Build and execute a "go-to-market" plan for your assigned territory or vertical to maximize Velir’s market share in the Data & AI space.
  • Expert Solution Positioning: Confidently articulate the value of modern data architectures, AI/ML strategies, and analytics to C-level executives and technical stakeholders. We sell with a consultative, solution-based approach.
  • Pipeline Management: Maintain a clean and predictable sales pipeline, ensuring consistent movement of deals through the funnel to hit annual revenue targets.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 10+ years’ experience in a specialized "Hunter" sales role within data, AI, software or SaaS.
  • Proven Track Record: A documented history of exceeding quotas and winning new logos in the mid-market and enterprise space.
  • Partner Network: Established, "ready-to-call" relationships with channel managers and account executives at Snowflake, Databricks, Dbt, Domo, or Sigma is an absolute plus.
  • Modern Data Stack Literacy: High "data IQ"—you don't need to write SQL, but you must be able to discuss data modeling, cloud warehouses, and AI use cases fluently.
  • Executive Presence: The ability to navigate and influence "the room" all the way up to the VP and C-Suite level.
  • Community Engagement: Active participation in the modern data and AI community (e.g., LinkedIn, dbt meetups, or local data events) to build brand authority and influence.
  • Self-Starter Mentality: You don't wait for inbound leads; you love being a hunter where you solve customer problems, create solid relationships and want to get rewarded for it.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent sitting at a desk performing work on a computer
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
  • Travel will be required for this role

Compensation Range: $150,000 - 165,000 base compensation annually plus competitive commission plan

Please note that compensation packages are finalized after the interview process is concluded. We use a competency-based approach to base pay, which means it is based on the competencies and skills demonstrated for this role.

Core Company Values

  • Take the Long View - Ensure the company is built to last
  • Be Courageous - Make the right decisions even when they aren't the easiest decisions
  • Be Genuine - Bring honesty and authenticity to all that you do
  • Work with Focus + Passion - Display purpose and pride in your work and never stop learning

As an equal opportunity employer, we are firmly committing to diversity, equity, and inclusion in our hiring efforts. We recognize that we need team members from all backgrounds and experiences to successfully shape a positive employee experience as well as deliver our product and service solutions. To that end, we actively seek candidates who can bring diverse experiences and backgrounds to our team. We know that complex factors and systemic bias can get in the way of us meeting strong candidates, so please don't hesitate to apply even if you're not 100% sure.

At this time, Velir does not sponsor candidates and unfortunately cannot accept those on OPT or CPT.

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

An "Armed forces service medal veteran" means a veteran who, while serving on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service, participated in a United States military operation for which an Armed Forces service medal was awarded pursuant to Executive Order 12985.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
