Process Development Engineer, Fremont California
Job Summary:
We are looking for a Process Development Engineer to join our hardware development team focused on realizing next-generation laptops and smartphones. In this role, you’ll be responsible for identifying materials and processes for applying thin catalytic coatings necessary for successful integration of Ventiva’s unique air moving devices. You will work hands-on to screen materials and evaluate various thin-film deposition processes that satisfy Ventiva’s requirements. You will also work closely with external suppliers and Ventiva’s contract manufacturer to establish an effective and manufacturable solution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Test catalytic materials for efficacy of ozone destruction
- Collaborate with catalyst material suppliers to fine-tune and optimize performance for Ventiva’s application
- Investigate various processes for deposition of catalyst materials on Ventiva’s product
- Perform laboratory testing to evaluate material and process configurations
- Collect and analyze data, and report findings
- Work with analytical laboratories to fully characterize coatings
- Identify and guide external suppliers to scale up the catalyst deposition for mass production
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in chemical engineering, material science, chemistry or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in process development showing strong familiarity with DOE and data analysis for process optimization
- Deep knowledge of thin-film deposition processes, especially atmospheric pressure wet and dry processes
- Must be hands-on in the lab to perform testing and characterization tasks
- Must have experience identifying and working with material and process suppliers for scale-up to mass production
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with catalytic materials and processes, especially related to ozone destruction
- Experience with dip coating, spray coating, or electrostatic deposition processes
- Knowledge of gas-phase reactions related to high energy processes such as plasma
Salary Range: $180,000 - $220,000
