
Quality SME, Electrical and Instrumentation
Venture Global LNG (“Venture Global”) is a long-term, low-cost provider of American-produced liquefied natural gas. The company’s two Louisiana-based export projects service the global demand for North American natural gas and support the long-term development of clean and reliable North American energy supplies. Using reliable, proven technology in an innovative plant design configuration, Venture Global’s modular, mid-scale plant design will replace traditional designs as it allows for the same efficiency and operational reliability at significantly lower capital cost.
The Quality SME, Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) is responsible for ensuring the technical integrity and quality assurance of all Electrical and Instrumentation equipment and materials procured for the LNG plant. This role serves as the primary technical liaison between the procurement department, engineering teams, and vendors, providing expert guidance throughout the procurement lifecycle—from requisition and vendor selection to manufacturing, inspection, and delivery
Responsibilities
- Perform technical reviews of E&I specifications, purchase requisitions, and vendor proposals to ensure compliance with project requirements, industry codes (e.g., NEC, IEC), and regulatory standards.
- Serve as the E&I technical leader for all the equipment delivery team, validating the accuracy of material descriptions, quantities, and quality requirements.
- Develop and approve Supplier Inspection and Test Plans for critical E&I components.
- Resolve technical queries and deviations related to E&I equipment in coordination with engineering and vendor teams.
- Participate in the evaluation and selection of new and existing suppliers, ensuring their technical capabilities and quality management systems meet project standards
- Conduct technical audits and assessments of vendor facilities to evaluate manufacturing processes, quality control procedures, and testing capabilities.
- Review and verify vendor quality control documentation, inspection reports, and test results for compliance.
- Provide technical support to resolve non-conforming material issues and manage supplier performance in collaboration with supply chain teams.
- Review Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) procedures and test reports for E&I equipment, including transformers, switchgear, control panels, E-houses, and field instruments.
- Witness critical FATs and other inspections at vendor sites, both domestically and internationally, to verify conformance with specifications.
- Collaborate with third-party inspectors to ensure all inspection and testing activities are performed correctly and documented accurately.
- Ensure the timely and accurate completion of all quality-related inspection reports and technical documentation.
- Support the organization and implementation of record retention systems for procured E&I equipment.
- Prepare status reports on E&I quality activities for company leadership.
- Serve as a mentor, sharing expertise in E&I quality standards and procurement best practices.
- Work closely with engineering, project management, and contractor teams to proactively address quality issues and prevent delays.
- Maintain a high level of awareness regarding industry standards, regulations, and technological advancements in E&I and LNG plant operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field. Technical trade certification with extensive experience may also be considered.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in the E&I field with at least 5 years in a Leadership Role
- Experience in LNG liquefaction facilities preferred
- Ability to perform multiple tasks, work within project deadlines and adjust as priorities change
- Possess the ability to mentor others through technical training and guidance
- Have the ability to read and interpret engineer drawings to include P&IDs, Civil/Structural plans and details, Electrical Wiring Diagrams, Piping Isometrics, etc
- Thorough knowledge and understating of all industry codes, standards, and industry best practices (i.e., NFPA)
- Have advanced computer experience with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Projects, PowerPoint, and Excel Work products
- Strong knowledge of API Q1, ISO 9001, international quality standards, and technical matters related to ASME and API codes and standards
- Experience with audits, inspections, and vendor evaluations
- Well-articulated with excellent written and verbal communication, planning, computing, technical, and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to travel, both domestic and international, if necessary
- Broad knowledge and understating of all industry codes, standards, and industry best practices
- Have advanced computer experience with software tools such as Smartsheet, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Projects, BI, PowerPoint, and Excel Work products
- Ability to obtain a TWIC Card
Preferred Minimum Certifications
- Certifications related to electrical safety, such as those from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), are highly desirable.
- Quality Certifications (API, ASQ, ISO)
- ASQ Certifications (CQA, CQE)
- API/AWS/ASME Certifications
