Senior Systems Analyst, Engineering Technology

Venture Global LNG (“Venture Global”) is a long-term, low-cost provider of American-produced liquefied natural gas. The company’s two Louisiana-based export projects service the global demand for North American natural gas and support the long-term development of clean and reliable North American energy supplies. Using reliable, proven technology in an innovative plant design configuration, Venture Global’s modular, mid-scale plant design will replace traditional designs as it allows for the same efficiency and operational reliability at significantly lower capital cost. 

We are seeking two Senior Systems Analyst to join our Engineering Technology team.  

Both roles are located at our Downtown Houston office and are Monday - Friday in-office.

Experience within the engineering and/or construction industry required for both roles.

The first position will serve as the primary subject matter expert and point of contact for all SI related activities. This role is responsible for system administration, data integrity, quality assurance, user support, and integration with other engineering tools. In this role you will work closely with engineering, design, IT, and project teams to ensure accurate, efficient, and standards-compliant instrumentation data throughout the project lifecycle.

This position will report to the Manager of Engineering Technology

Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

•    Configure, administer, support, test, implement, and upgrade SI and related engineering systems.
•    Perform regular database integrity checks, system monitoring, and quality audits to ensure reliability and compliance with data standards.
•    Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and resolution for SI related issues.
•    Collaborate with engineering, design, IT, and project teams to integrate SI with other engineering tools and platforms.
•    Input, maintain, analyze, and audit instrumentation data to support engineering and design activities.
•    Ensure instrumentation data accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project and company standards.
•    Monitor data quality and implement controls to maintain consistency across systems.
•    Support SI Engineering and Design modules, including creation and management of loops, tags, wiring, panels, and drawings.
•    Execute batch creation of loops, tags, wiring connections, and loop drawings.
•    Develop DCS, PLC, and SIS panels and associated instrumentation deliverables.
•    Generate and manage instrumentation deliverables, including instrument index, datasheets, loop drawings, wiring drawings, and reports.
•    Maintain SI browser views, filters, sorting structures, and revision control processes.
•    Support development of data handover packages, including SI deliverables, metadata, and documentation.
•    Define, support, and enforce SI standards, work practices, and data-centric engineering workflows.
•    Perform routine database maintenance and manage local backups of relevant project data.
•    Analyze workflows and recommend software solutions and process improvements.
•    Interface directly with software vendors to escalate defects, request enhancements, and support Venture Global’s standard workflows.
•    Stay current with system enhancements, workflow changes, and integrated environment requirements, and communicate updates to project teams.
•    Execute bulk data imports and other data management activities when appropriate to improve project efficiency.
•    Support Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) and continuous improvement initiatives.
•    Lead and organize work plans and priorities for assigned team members.
•    Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and training to ensure quality and productivity.
•    Develop and maintain user documentation, configuration guides, and deployment manuals.
•    Coordinate with stakeholders to plan project design systems and resolve issues.
•    Communicate effectively with project teams and management while working within a structured, integrated engineering environment.
•    Continuously seek opportunities to enhance end-user experience and overall tool effectiveness

Required Qualifications:
•    Expert-level knowledge of Smart Instrumentation (SI), with 10+ years of experience in system administration, configuration, and project deployment.
•    Strong hands-on expertise as an SI super-user, including loops, tags, wiring, panels, and drawing generation.
•    Strong technical knowledge of instrumentation engineering and interpretation of P&IDs.
•    Solid understanding of EPC project lifecycles, engineering workflows, and data-centric execution.
•    Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and related data management tools.
•    Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across disciplines.
•    Ability to manage priorities, influence others diplomatically, and work in a collaborative project environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Completion of Smart Instrumentation administrator and user training or certification.
•    Strong understanding of data-centric execution methodologies.
•    Experience working in SI Engineering and/or Design modules.
•    LNG project execution experience.

 

The second position will be the primary subject matter expert and point of contact for all SPID related activities. In this role you will work closely with other Smart tool administrators, as well as Engineering and Design teams, to provide operational and technical support for Venture Global’s engineering project execution. This role will also serve as a subject matter expert in Smart P&ID, advising project teams on best practices for working within a data-centric engineering environment. This role emphasizes data quality, tool optimization, and adherence to engineering standards, policies, and procedures. The position collaborates directly with project teams to enforce existing standards and help develop or refine workflows where needed. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong proficiency in Smart P&ID and possess working knowledge of other SmartPlant tools and related systems.

Responsibilities:

•    Provide project and site-based Process and Instrumentation Design (P&ID/SPPID) engineering support across projects related to LNG, oil & gas, chemicals, and power generation.
•    Configure and manage SPID/SPPID projects in accordance with Venture Global standards and established workflows.
•    Maintain a strong focus on data quality, integrity, and consistency throughout the project lifecycle.
•    Serve as a subject matter expert and tool specialist, advising project teams on workflows, data structures, and best practices.
•    Collaborate with IT, Engineering Technology administrators, and Project Engineering teams to develop innovative solutions and optimize SPID tool utilization.
•    Provide user support and troubleshooting assistance related to SPID/SPPID and associated engineering tools.
•    Perform regular audits of project data to identify and resolve technical or structural issues early, minimizing inefficiencies and schedule impacts.
•    Plan and deliver short training sessions (e.g., Lunch & Learn) to support continuous improvement and user proficiency.
•    Stay current with system enhancements, workflow changes, and integrated environment requirements, and communicate updates to project teams.
•    Execute bulk data imports and other data management activities when appropriate to improve project efficiency.
•    Interface directly with software vendors to escalate defects, request enhancements, and support Venture Global’s standard workflows.
•    Customize and maintain report templates to automate report generation and issuance of engineering documentation.
•    Perform routine database maintenance and manage local backups of relevant project data.
•    Provide leadership to project teams by promoting best practices, data governance, and effective tool usage; communicate workflow conflicts and improvement opportunities to management teams.
•    Document work processes, system changes, and procedural updates as required.
•    Communicate effectively with project teams and management while working within a structured, integrated engineering environment.
•    Continuously seek opportunities to enhance end-user experience and overall tool effectiveness

Required Qualifications:
•    Expert-level knowledge of Smart P&ID (SPPID), with 10+ years of experience in system administration, configuration, and project deployment.
•    Proven engineering or design experience utilizing Smart P&ID as a data-centric delivery tool.
•    Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining custom symbols, reports, and project-specific configurations within Smart P&ID.
•    Hands-on experience supporting major Smart P&ID version upgrades and associated workflows.
•    Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Intergraph SmartSketch.
•    Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
•    Highly motivated, self-directed professional with strong written and verbal communication skills.
•    Working knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL).
•    Experience within the engineering and/or construction industry.

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Completion of Smart P&ID administrator and user training or certification.
•    Strong understanding of data-centric execution methodologies.
•    Experience performing Smart P&ID design and engineering on EPC projects.
•    LNG project execution experience.
