We are seeking qualified applicants for the position of SCADA Senior Engineer located in Houston, TX.

General Description:

The SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) Senior Engineer, with guidance from leadership, is responsible for the development and maintenance of the SCADA systems associated with Venture Global’s system of pipelines. Knowledge of interstate pipeline operations, API pipeline SCADA recommended practices, and DOT regulations, along with a service minded attitude is crucial to the role.

 

This role will require a ground up design of a SCADA system and control center with the aid of contractors and control room management experts.  The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast paced environment where changing requirements will be expected. 

This position will be full time in-person in the Venture Global downtown office.

 

Responsibilities:

  • 5+ years of experience in SCADA development for pipeline applications required;
  • Field investigation work to determine the existing equipment and configurations on existing equipment;
  • Field work to interface with existing LNG plant employees to ensure we are both fulfilling their needs and concerns but most importantly not violating FERC regulations;
  • Participate in the development of Control Room Management (CRM) procedures as defined in 49 CFR 192.631;
  • Work with control room management to ensure SCADA displays are designed and styled considering API RP 1165;
  • Working knowledge of FERC regulations regarding separation of personnel and information interface with common carrier pipelines and customers;
  • Assist in development of leak detection programs aligning with API RP 1130 and API RP 1175;
  • Accountable for preparation for and representation in Control Room Audits both internal and PHMSA;
  • Accountable for the development and maintenance of internal SCADA procedures;
  • Ensure all changes to the SCADA system are governed by the MOC (Management of Change) process;
  • Be able and prepared to respond to after hours emergency call-outs;

 

Qualifications:

Education and Certifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science. Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

Experience:

  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, FERC, DOT / PHMSA rules and regulations;
  • Familiarity with CFR 49 part 192;
  • Familiarity with implementing API RPs for SCADA, alarm management, leak detection, and cyber security;
  • Knowledge of control systems programming and interpretation is beneficial to the role;
  • Knowledge of measurement systems and flow computers along with their configuration is beneficial to the role;
  • Knowledge of pipeline instrumentation is beneficial to the role;
  • Familiarity with multiple communications protocols commonly used with programmable logic controllers and industrial communications

 

Skills:

  • Experience SCADA implementation;
  • Programming and scripting in multiple languages;
  • SQL knowledge and SQL query development knowledge preferred;
  • Knowledge of revision / version management;
  • Experience with Microsoft Reporting Services;
  • Experience with Aveva Pi preferred;
  • Experience with autosol ACM;
  • Ability to perform forensic analysis on incidents with SCADA data;
  • Analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills
