We are seeking qualified applicants for the position of SCADA Specialist located in Houston, TX.

General Description:

The SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) Specialist supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of SCADA systems associated with Venture Global’s pipeline operations. This role works closely with engineering, operations, and control room personnel to ensure systems are reliable, functional, and aligned with established standards and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically strong, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving project needs. This role will contribute to the buildout of SCADA systems and the control center, working alongside internal teams and external contractors.

This position will be full-time in-person in the Venture Global downtown office and will require shift work to support a 24x7 control center.

 

Job Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-site SCADA support for the Venture Global Pipeline Control Center in Houston, TX
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance SCADA systems as required to ensure reliable operations
  • Document and track service requests, issues, and change requests within the Venture Global ticketing system to ensure timely resolution
  • Support system configuration changes, testing, and new asset commissioning activities
  • Assist with field investigations to document existing equipment, communications, and configurations
  • Coordinate with plant and field personnel to support operational needs while adhering to established regulatory and company requirements
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of Control Room Management (CRM) procedures in alignment with applicable standards
  • Assist in ensuring SCADA displays and alarm configurations follow established industry practices (e.g., API guidelines)
  • Contribute to leak detection system support and monitoring initiatives
  • Participate in internal and external audit preparation and support activities as needed
  • Follow established Management of Change (MOC) processes for all SCADA system modifications.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining SCADA documentation, procedures, and system records

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field preferred
  • Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

Experience:

  • Experience supporting or developing SCADA systems, preferably in pipeline or industrial applications
  • Experience with basic programming data types (Float, Bool, Integer, String, Date, Array)
  • Exposure to control systems, PLCs, and industrial automation systems
  • Familiarity with measurement systems, flow computers, and pipeline instrumentation is a plus
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols and networking concepts
  • Familiarity with applicable industry standards and regulations (OSHA, DOT/PHMSA, FERC)
  • Basic understanding of 49 CFR Part 192 and applicable API 1165 Recommended Practices

Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with SCADA systems configuration and support
  • Basic SQL knowledge and ability to work with queries
  • Familiarity with version control and change management practices
  • Experience with reporting tools (e.g., Microsoft Reporting Services)
  • Exposure to data historians such as AVEVA PI
  • Experience with alarm management tools (e.g., Autosol ACM)
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot SCADA system issues using data and logs
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ClearSCADA / Geo SCADA
  • Familiarity with industrial protocols such as MQTT, OPC UA, Modbus TCP/IP, EtherNet/IP
  • Basic scripting or programming experience (e.g., Python, Ladder Logic, Functional Block)
  • Experience with Point-to-Point testing from a Pipeline Control Center
  • Experience with Allen Bradley 5000 Series PLCs and associated programming software
