Job Summary

As Veo's Senior Manager of Accounting Transformation, you will lead the modernization of our accounting processes, systems, and reporting infrastructure, leveraging technology, automation, and data analytics to accelerate the financial close, improve reporting accuracy, and build a more efficient and scalable accounting function.

Reporting directly to the CFO, you will play a critical role in transforming how Veo manages its accounting operations, moving from manual, spreadsheet-intensive workflows toward automated, standardized, and data-driven processes. You will partner closely with Accounting, FP&A, Operations, and Technology to identify inefficiencies, implement practical solutions, and strengthen the integrity and accessibility of financial information.

In addition to leading transformation initiatives, you will provide hands-on accounting leadership across financial reporting, month-end close, technical accounting, internal controls, and audit readiness.

This role is ideal for a technically strong, technology-forward accounting professional who enjoys solving complex problems, building automations, and translating accounting expertise into measurable improvements in speed, accuracy, and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Accounting Transformation & Automation: Lead the redesign and automation of accounting processes, identifying opportunities to eliminate manual work, streamline workflows, reduce errors, and accelerate the monthly close through technology, AI, and process improvements.
  • Financial Close Optimization: Partner with the accounting team to improve the speed, consistency, and quality of monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes. Establish standardized workflows, automated reconciliations, clear ownership, and measurable performance indicators.
  • Financial Reporting & Data Analytics: Modernize financial reporting processes, including financial statements, management reporting packages, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Improve data quality, reporting timeliness, and visibility into financial performance.
  • Accounting Systems & Technology: Evaluate, implement, and optimize accounting systems, integrations, and financial technology solutions. Leverage ERP capabilities, workflow automation, AI-enabled tools, and data analytics to reduce manual processes and improve accounting efficiency.
  • Data Integrity & Reconciliation: Develop scalable processes to reconcile financial and operational data across systems, with particular emphasis on inventory, fixed assets, revenue, cash, and operating expenses. Strengthen data accuracy, exception monitoring, and audit trails.
  • Technical Accounting & Controls: Apply U.S. GAAP expertise to ensure accounting processes, automation, and financial reporting remain accurate and compliant. Research and document technical accounting matters while strengthening internal controls and financial governance.
  • Audit & Compliance: Support annual financial statement audits, regulatory reporting, and tax compliance by improving documentation, standardizing supporting schedules, and developing more efficient, audit-ready accounting processes.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with Accounting, FP&A, Operations, Technology, Legal, and other stakeholders to understand business processes, resolve data inconsistencies, and implement sustainable improvements across the organization.
  • Performance Measurement: Establish and track key accounting operational metrics, including close cycle time, reconciliation completion, manual processing hours, reporting accuracy, and automation effectiveness.
  • Leadership: Drive adoption of new systems, workflows, and processes through training, documentation, and hands-on collaboration. Mentor accounting team members, promote continuous improvement, and build a culture of accountability, innovation, and operational excellence.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including meaningful responsibility for accounting operations, financial reporting, process improvement, or finance transformation in a high-growth environment. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Demonstrated Transformation Experience: Proven track record of personally designing, implementing, or leading accounting automation and process improvements that delivered measurable improvements in efficiency, accuracy, or reporting timeliness.
  • Accounting Expertise: Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, month-end close, general ledger accounting, financial reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, internal controls, and audit requirements.
  • Technology & Automation: Hands-on experience with financial technology platforms, workflow automation, and data analytics tools. Ability to evaluate processes, work with underlying data, and implement technology-driven solutions.
  • Analytical & Technical Skills: Advanced Excel and/or Google Sheets proficiency, including the ability to manipulate large datasets, build reconciliations, and automate reporting. Experience with SQL, Power Query, Power BI, scripting, or comparable analytical and automation tools is highly desirable.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong ability to diagnose complex accounting and data issues, identify root causes, develop practical solutions, and execute improvements with limited resources.
  • Project Management & Execution: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple transformation initiatives, prioritize based on business impact, and deliver measurable results while supporting ongoing accounting operations.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex accounting and technical concepts into actionable recommendations and influence stakeholders across Finance, Operations, and Technology.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with evolving systems, processes, and business requirements. Willingness to be hands-on and directly involved in problem-solving and implementation.
  • Hybrid Role: Must currently reside or be relocatable to a commutable distance from our Santa Monica Headquarters. The role requires a minimum of four days per week in the office.

Nice to have:

  • CPA or equivalent certification is strongly preferred.
  • Experience implementing and/or optimizing ERP systems such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with accounting and finance tools such as Stampli, Brex, Ramp, Cube, Jirav, Fathom, or comparable solutions.
  • Experience implementing AI-enabled accounting workflows, robotic process automation (RPA), or low-code/no-code automation tools.
  • Experience designing automated balance sheet reconciliations, transaction-level reporting, or financial data pipelines.
  • Experience in venture-backed startups, scale-ups, or organizations undergoing significant accounting transformation.
  • Experience with inventory, fixed assets, asset lifecycle accounting, or other operationally complex accounting environments.
  • Experience supporting annual audits, financing transactions, or accounting infrastructure improvements.

What Success Looks Like:

Within the first 6 months, you will have made measurable progress toward:

  • Faster Close: Reduce the time required to complete monthly financial reporting through process redesign, automation, and improved cross-functional coordination.
  • Less Manual Work: Eliminate repetitive accounting tasks and spreadsheet-intensive workflows, freeing the team to focus on analysis, controls, and higher-value activities.
  • Improved Reporting Quality: Strengthen the accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of financial reporting through automated reconciliations, standardized processes, and better data integrity.
  • Scalable Infrastructure: Establish accounting processes and systems that can support Veo's growth without requiring proportional increases in accounting headcount.
  • Stronger Controls: Improve audit readiness, reconciliation quality, documentation, and exception monitoring while maintaining practical, risk-based controls.
  • Technology Adoption: Introduce and operationalize modern accounting technologies, including automation and AI-enabled solutions where they demonstrably improve efficiency and accuracy.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive Compensation Package that consists of a base salary range of $140,000 - $170,000 + Annual Performance Bonus + Equity (Stock Options) + Full Range of Benefits.
    • Veo is a total compensation company, and pay is determined by geographic cost of labor and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training - so not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range.
    • Our total compensation package for this role, including bonus potential, ranges from $150,000 - $190,000
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Competitive Benefits Package (Medical, Dental, Vision, Short-Term Disability, and more!)
  • 401k with 3% match
