Platform Architect

Hybrid - San Francisco, New York City

About Vercel:

Vercel gives developers the tools and cloud infrastructure to build, scale, and secure a faster, more personalized web. As the team behind v0, Next.js, and AI SDK, Vercel helps customers like Ramp, Supreme, PayPal, and Under Armour build for the AI-native web.

Our mission is to enable the world to ship the best products. That starts with creating a place where everyone can do their best work. Whether you're building on our platform, supporting our customers, or shaping our story: You can just ship things.

About The Role:

Platform Architects at Vercel are deeply technical partners embedded with Vercel’s most strategic and high-potential accounts. They engage where customers require Enterprise-grade performance, scale, and reliability—guiding architectural decisions that unlock long-term growth on the platform.

Platform Architects lead customers through initial deployments of novel and complex workloads, ensuring they are production-ready from the very beginning. They also serve as the technical lead on Vercel’s most strategic accounts, shaping ambitious projects where customers are making ambitious bets on Vercel. Over time, they remain closely engaged with customers as their usage matures, proactively assessing architecture, identifying risks, and optimizing for scale, performance, and new growth opportunities.

Beyond direct customer engagements, Platform Architects play a vital role in capturing and scaling knowledge across Vercel. They distill what they learn in the field into reusable architectural patterns that define the best practices which accelerate adoption for the broader customer base—enabling Sales, Professional Services, and Developer Success Engineers to deliver impact at scale.

What You Will Do:

  • Partner with strategic customers on deploying novel, highly complex workloads and ensuring production readiness at scale
  • Serve as the technical lead on accounts where Vercel is deeply invested in ensuring long-term success.
  • Proactively engage with customers on adoption, utilization, and performance optimization—identifying opportunities for growth and expansion
  • Capture patterns and abstractions from work with customers and convert them into blueprints, playbooks, and guidance that unblock future workload adoption
  • Collaborate with Sales, Professional Services, Product, and Developer Success Engineers (DSEs) to ensure strategic accounts achieve measurable value.

About You:

  • 7+ years experience in software engineering, cloud architecture, or customer-facing technical roles
  • Deep expertise in modern web application architectures (e.g. Next.js, React, serverless, edge compute, AI workloads)
  • Proven ability to design and deploy production-grade systems for performance and reliability at the largest scales (millions of daily active users)
  • Comfortable influencing both executive stakeholders and technical engineering teams
  • Strong communicator who can translate complex technical solutions into strategic value

Bonus If You:

  • Have experience with large-scale performance optimization and Core Web Vitals
  • Have led technical architecture for high-growth or Enterprise SaaS platforms
  • Built frameworks, reference architectures, or playbooks that scaled across an organization
  • Experience contributing to or shaping open-source frameworks that gained adoption
