About the Role:

Vercel is looking for an Assistant Controller to develop and scale the accounting function from a late stage start-up to a company prepared to one day become a public company. This role will support the accounting close process, assist in strategic initiatives to streamline operations, oversee key financial processes related to corporate accounting, payroll, and accounts payable, and be a key stakeholder in various special projects.

What You Will Do:

• Manage corporate accounting functions, including month-end close processes, consolidation, and financial reporting
• Supervise accounts payable, including vendor and cash management
• Provide oversight on international payroll operations across multiple countries, including managing new entity set-up and implementation of new payroll systems and processes
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings, implementing solutions that enhance financial operations
• Partner with FP&A in developing financial models and scenarios for strategic decision-making
• Provide leadership and mentorship to accounting and finance team members
• Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits and ensure compliance with GAAP
• Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives

About You:

• 12+ years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years at a Big 4 accounting firm and 5 years in industry
• Experience working in SaaS and working for company that operations in multiple countries
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent) 
• CPA designation and strong knowledge of US GAAP
• Passionate about building systems and process improvements; you thrive in bringing process and organization to complex environments
• Ability to lead projects independently
• Skilled at communicating technical accounting concepts to a non-technical audience
• Experience with NetSuite is a plus!
• Located in SF Bay Area

The San Francisco, CA base pay range for this role is $160,000-$240,000.  This salary range is an estimate. Actual salary will be based on job related skills, experience and location. Pay ranges outside San Francisco may be  adjusted based on employee location.  The total compensation package also includes benefits and equity-based compensation.
