Job Overview: The successful Senior Automation Engineer will specialize in warehouse automation to guide design reviews, maintain project schedules, and deliver both long-term and interim solutions to expedite system commissioning.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end design, implementation, and commissioning of a fully automated cold-storage warehouse, including AGVs, automated pallet handling/exchange systems, pallet washers, and conveyor-based material flow
- Own automation architecture and controls strategy, partnering with OEMs and integrators on PLCs, WCS/WMS, safety systems, and SAP integration
- Drive detailed design and technical reviews to identify risks, resolve bottlenecks in cold-storage automation, and optimize throughput, reliability, and system availability
- Develop and implement interim and fallback operating modes (e.g., manual or semi-automated workflows) to accelerate go-live and mitigate commissioning risk
- Define automation standards and scalability plans to support future expansion, including a potential Phase 2 second-floor automation build-out
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related life sciences/technical discipline
- 5+ years of experience designing, installing, and commissioning automated warehouse or distribution center systems
- Hands-on expertise with warehouse automation technologies such as AGVs, automated pallet handling/exchange systems, conveyors, and material flow solutions
- Proven ability to collaborate with integrators, OEMs, IT, and operations teams to successfully stand up fully automated warehouse environments
- Ability and willingness to work 100% on-site in Blue Ash, OH

The actual salary is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs, market demand, and competitive market practice. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
