About This Role
As an IT Systems & Automation Architect, your primary duties involve designing system architectures, planning integration strategies across platforms with the goal of enabling scale & efficiencies, and executing integration & automation initiatives. You'll identify current gaps, develop solutions for scale and automation, define requirements and dependencies, and oversee the implementation and rollout of these initiatives. Please note - this is a hands-on role. You are expected to both develop the solution and take an active role in its build-out (in partnership with the broader organization). Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential, as is staying updated on industry trends - with special focus on automation, AI, and enhancements to drive global scale. You'll mentor junior engineers and ensure compliance with regulations, security and quality standards.
Our ideal candidate has a deep technical aptitude for building automations for corporate applications and integrations with security and global scale as the foundation. This person understands the day-to-day aspects of an IT organization, especially in a global high-growth startup with ever-changing requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee transformation initiatives in the realm of integrations, corporate systems automation, and global scale
- Proactive mindset in developing security-centric processes, integrations, and automations to support Verkada’s global fast-paced growth
- Hands on experience in developing cross-system automations leveraging common workflow automation technologies like Okta, Workato, Postman, or building out home-grown, scalable experiences
- Extensive hands-on experience with common corporate platforms like Google Workspace, Okta, Workday, Salesforce (Slack), etc
- Implementing SaaS system changes, access controls, and enhanced employee-centric processes with focus on security and global scale
- Assessing business requirements, evaluating our software stack and implementing enhancements and solutions
- Working closely with People Ops, Legal, Sales Ops and other teams to develop scalable and reliable solutions.
- Developing analytics and dashboards to measure effectiveness of current environments and identify scale and value-creation opportunities
- Create and maintain standards, procedures, and documentation related to security and compliance requirements for broader corporate systems environments
- Participate in system audits and perform testing for disaster recovery or SOX controls, ensuring a secure processing environment that protects the integrity and availability of information
Requirements:

- 5+ years in systems engineering (Corporate IT) & integrations with 4+ years working in integrations, automation, and transformations for scale.
- Experience working with common workflow automation technologies like Okta, Workato, Postman, or building out home-grown, scalable experiences.
- Proven experience with managing cloud applications, platforms, and APIs.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with both engineering and non-engineering audiences with customer focus and problem solving mentality.

- Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
Pay Disclosure
At Verkada, we want to attract and retain the best employees, and compensate them in a way that appropriately and fairly values their individual contribution to the company. With that in mind, we carefully consider a number of factors to determine the appropriate starting pay for an employee, including their primary work location and an assessment of a candidate’s skills and experience, as well as market demands and internal parity. This estimate can vary based on the factors described above, so the actual starting annual base salary may be above or below this range. This estimate is also just one component of Verkada’s total rewards package. A Verkada employee may be eligible for additional forms of compensation, depending on their role, including sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
Estimated Annual Pay Range
$160,000 - $190,000 USD
