About the Role
As a Technical Program Manager (TPM) for the Camera Software team, you will take point on developing & coordinating strategic cross-team initiatives, develop the software side of new hardware programs, and own the delivery of high-performance firmware that powers our next-generation imaging systems. This is not a project manager role that is tracking down commitments and monitoring tickets. This person will develop critical processes, drive the definition of complex projects, and help coordinate multiple teams to deliver on critical programs.
You will sit at the intersection of Hardware, Firmware, Streaming, and Computer Vision, ensuring that as we evolve the products that we do so in a coordinated manner. Ensuring alignment between the different engineering disciplines is key. Key examples of focus include the firmware delivery process, firmware planning for new hardware (NPI).
What You'll Do
- Critical Program Definition and Execution: The cameras team is 70+ engineers (and growing) that’s focused on core embedded camera, computer vision / ML, streaming, alerts & workflows, and more. There are regularly critical programs that require contribution across internal and external teams - this person will help take on the hardest - driving a clear program plan and helping coordinate execution.
- Firmware Delivery: Define and manage the end-to-end firmware release process. You will lead the team through the firmware qual and release process, ensuring all exit criteria are met for stability, performance, and image quality. This is fundamental to ensuring we release firmware to our customers in a reliable manner with rigor and attention to quality.
- Process Engineering: Establish and refine the "rules of the road" for the firmware team and cameras team more broadly. This includes defining bug-triage workflows, release branch strategies, and automated testing requirements for specific hardware targets.
- Hardware-Software Synchronization: You will align hardware milestones (EVT, DVT, PVT) with firmware releases to ensure silicon bring-up and module integration are seamless. You will identify critical path dependencies—such as ISP tuning, driver development, and sensor calibration—and proactively mitigate risks before they impact the build schedule.
- Stakeholder Communication: Provide clear, data-driven visibility into program health. You’ll translate technical firmware blockers into actionable business risks for executive leadership.
What You Bring
- Experience: 5+ years of experience as a TPM, Engineering Manager, or Program Manager in a technical environment.
- Domain Knowledge: Proven track record of delivering embedded systems or firmware, ideally within the imaging, robotics, or consumer electronics space.
- Lifecycle Mastery: Deep understanding of hardware development lifecycles (PLC) and how software milestones nest within physical build cycles.
- Technical Literacy: Ability to discuss API design, memory constraints, and power management with engineers without getting lost.
- Must be willing and able to work onsite five days per week.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with product observability tools and data analysis
- Hands-on experience with Jira/Confluence or similar tools to build automated tracking dashboards.
- Background in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.

Annual Pay Range
At Verkada, we want to attract and retain the best employees, and compensate them in a way that appropriately and fairly values their individual contribution to the company. With that in mind, we carefully consider a number of factors to determine the appropriate starting pay for an employee, including their primary work location and an assessment of a candidate's skills and experience, as well as market demands and internal parity. A Verkada employee may be eligible for additional forms of compensation, depending on their role, including sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of restricted stock units (RSUs)
Below is the annual on-target earnings (OTE) range for full-time employees for this position, comprised of base compensation and commissions (if applicable).

$150,000 - $220,000 USD
