Position Overview

Manage day to day team activities to facilitate successful delivery of organizational goals in software delivery. The role will facilitate the delivery of software projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget.They will be the initial escalation point for any team issues and be empowered to remove blockers where appropriate. This role will interact directly with the regional R&D Director to help implement policies, processes and procedures to ensure high quality outcomes and achieve communicated delivery goals.

This role will be involved in the software development process as well as management activities.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Plan – with Product and Engineering to create aligned roadmap and backlogs, understand/manage input, throughput, and capacity.  
  • Execute – with the team to deliver the committed projects, on time within budget with quality, help manage changes/disruptions to the team, partner with other managers/teams adhering to best practices, process and audit constraints.
  • Communicate – keep both stakeholders and team informed on status, issues and risks.
  • Grow – coach and develop team, identify and work to close talent/resource gaps, identify and work to introduce new technologies to our solutions.
  • Guide team development efforts towards successful project delivery.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership to teammates through delivery of quality solutions to technical problems.
  • Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits.
  • Assist in the collection and documentation of user's requirements, development of user stories, estimates and work plans.
  • Participate in peer-reviews of solution designs and related code.
  • Provide guidance on resolving technical and application problems.
  • Assess opportunities for application and process improvement and prepare documentation of rationale to share with regional R&D Director, team members and other affected parties.
  • Adhere to high-quality development principles while delivering solutions on-time and on-budget.
  • Analyze system specifications and translate system requirements to task specifications for less experienced software engineers.
  • Participate in agile estimations, planning, daily ceremonies and retrospectives to drive continuous improvement in team and personal performance.
  • Deliver maximum value to the customer, ensuring that all involved have the resources they need, are communicating well, and are shielded from distractions and interruptions.
  • Responsible for keeping time goals clear and visible to teams. Facilitate daily stand-ups “check-ins”, Planning, Showcases and Retrospectives.
  • Coach teams to victory by guiding effective ways to communicate project visions, that inspires team to achieve.
  • Ensure time management and recording is completed on-time (weekly) and is accurate.
  • Participate in performance & salary review sessions.
  • Manage conflicts within the team and reach out for support where appropriate.
  • 1 on 1 catch ups with team members to provide opportunity for bi-directional feedback.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in commercial enterprise software delivery.
  • 3+ years of hands-on cloud technology experience. (Azure preferred, AWS).
  • Good Knowledge & experience with cloud security, cybersecurity practices, compliance, data privacy & security protocols & practices.
  • Complete understanding of all phases of application development and the use of AGILE methodologies.
  • BA/BS or advanced degree in Business, Computer Science or equivalent preferred but not required.
  • Deep technical expertise in core technologies (C#, .Net, Java, Python) and proven experience in key delivery areas (Back-office, Artificial intelligence, IOT, security and integration).
  • Good day to day planning, resource management and time management skills
  • Good communication skills to be able to discuss issues with software engineers and all levels of management.
  • Establish oneself as a credible source for guidance on organizational standards and norms.
  • Demonstrate the courage to say "no" when necessary and provide thoughtful reasoning on why.
  • Synthesize information, experience, and various inputs to determine the best course of action for teams and units.
  • Optimize and integrate large-scale systems to continually improve quality and service.
  • Hold others accountable for meeting customer needs.
  • Encourage others to seek perspectives from impacted stakeholders.
  • To collaborate/communicate with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness and ability to coach and mentor less experienced engineering staff.
  • Improved efficiency and effectiveness of Verra Mobility products and services.
  • Improved quality of deliverables to both internal and external clients.
  • Projects delivered on time and within estimated budgets.
  • Successful completion of the Nlets fingerprinting background assessment.
  • Must be okay with commuting 2-3 days into our Mesa, Arizona office.
