Position Overview:
The Staff Accountant works under the direction of an VP, Director of Assistant Controller you will be responsible for general ledger accounts and related activities in accordance with GAAP. This position is a key role within the finance organization and will work closely with senior leadership to ensure financials are compliant with accounting and reporting standards. The position will be responsible for daily accounting tasks and month-end close to include account reconciliations, thorough review of accounting classifications, preparing journal entries, analyzing business transactions, and delivering financial reports. This team member will also assist in the year-end close process, preparation and variance analysis of assigned budgets, annual audit, and tax returns.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Post business transactions, process invoices, verify financial data for use in maintaining accounts payable records.
- Responsible for ensuring that all vendors are paid accurately and on time, and for maintaining the accuracy of the company's general ledger.
- Verify invoices against purchase orders and ensure goods or services were received before issuing payment to vendors.
- Resolve account payable issues or queries.
- Record journal entries and perform reconciliation and maintain balance sheet accounts.
- Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures.
- Assist in financial and tax audits and participate in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings.
- Assist in management of overall fixed assets for company.
- Ensure compliance with organizational guidelines and procedures, and federal and state regulations.
- Assist with adhoc projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 2 years of accounting work experience
- Analytical mind with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to grow and develop
- Experience with basic accounting and financial practices
- Must feel comfortable in Excel
