The Role
The Lead Product Manager plays a key strategic role in shaping the mission-critical systems that serve as the backbone for Police, Fire, and EMS. This position provides leadership across multiple products or major initiatives within the public safety portfolio, combining strategic foresight with hands-on execution to drive meaningful impact.
The Lead Product Manager partners closely with Engineering, Design, Sales, Marketing, and Partner Success to align product outcomes with organizational goals. They operate with a portfolio-level perspective—defining strategy, guiding execution, and ensuring that products deliver measurable value to both customers and the business.
Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) is one of the core platforms for public safety operations—powering real-time dispatch for first responders. In this role, you’ll lead modernization, improving usability, ensuring compliance, and driving seamless integration within the Versaterm ecosystem. You’ll champion innovations to help agencies operate smarter, while shaping strategy and delivering measurable business impact.
What You’ll Do
Product Strategy:
- Define and communicate a multi-year strategic vision that spans multiple products or product lines, ensuring alignment with company objectives and evolving market needs.
- Drive portfolio-level innovation and advise on strategic direction by modernizing solutions, expanding customer value, and balancing near-term priorities with long-term growth.
- Influence enterprise priorities and investment decisions, collaborating with senior stakeholders to secure alignment and resources for high-impact initiatives.
- Leverage market intelligence, win/loss analysis, and financial insights to shape strategy and guide decisions that maximize business impact.
- Establish pricing strategies, define core product positioning and messaging, and contribute to product marketing and go-to-market launch plans.
Defining the Roadmap:
- Translate organizational strategy into actionable product roadmaps spanning multiple teams or domains.
- Drive roadmap cohesion across the portfolio, balancing competing priorities and resource constraints while optimizing for business impact and customer value.
- Use data-driven insights, market analysis, and customer feedback to guide prioritization decisions.
- Partner with Engineering leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure delivery of complex, high-impact releases that advance strategic objectives.
Modernization & Transformation
- Lead strategic initiatives to modernize the user experience, incorporating contemporary design principles and emerging technologies to enhance usability and operational efficiency.
- Champion adoption of emerging technologies (e.g., AI, analytics) to enhance product capabilities and operational efficiency.
- Lead experimentation and validation efforts through MVPs, pilots, and early feedback cycles.
Thought Leadership & Mentorship
- Act as a mentor and coach to other team members, promoting best practices and elevating the overall product discipline.
- Represent the product organization in executive forums, shaping company-wide product strategy and innovation initiatives.
Stakeholders and Key Work Partners:
- Drive alignment across departments, ensuring strategic priorities are clearly understood amongst Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Partner Success, Support, and Leadership.
- Represent the product portfolio externally with customers, partners, and industry groups to validate strategic direction and strengthen relationships.
- Enable cross-functional readiness for major initiatives, partnering with marketing, enablement, and operations teams to ensure smooth execution.
- Foster collaboration and influence without authority, building consensus across diverse teams.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of product management experience in enterprise SaaS or public safety software, defining strategy and driving execution across multiple product teams or domains.
- Proven ability to deliver complex, cross-functional software initiatives with measurable business impact.
- Leadership in modernization initiatives, including UI redesign or integration of emerging technologies.
- Experience with business cases, pricing strategies and P&Ls.
- Deep expertise in product management methodologies, Agile frameworks, and product discovery techniques.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing other product professionals.
Impress Us With
- Experience with tools like Aha!, JIRA, and Confluence.
- Familiarity with software engineering concepts such as APIs, databases, and cloud platforms.
- Background in public safety software (e.g., CAD, RMS, or Analytics).
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent certification.
