The Role

We are seeking a Senior Product Owner who will play a key role in shaping the mission-critical systems that serve as the backbone for Police, Fire, and EMS. This role builds on core Product Owner responsibilities, providing leadership across multiple product areas and ensuring delivery aligns with strategic priorities. The Senior Product Owner will serve as the key liaison between the software development team and the Product Manager. This role is responsible for ensuring that product requirements are effectively communicated, prioritized, and executed by the development team. You will manage the product backlog, define user stories, and facilitate Agile processes to deliver high-quality software products that align with the broader product strategy.

What You Do

  • Partner strategically with Product Managers to influence the product vision and translate high-level roadmaps into actionable plans for multiple development teams.
  • Own and manage multiple product backlogs, ensuring user stories and acceptance criteria are well-defined, estimated, and prioritized based on stakeholder needs.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for engineers, clarifying requirements and facilitating Agile processes like sprint planning and refinement.
  • Represent the voice of the customer to development teams and collaborate with designers and analysts to align priorities across the organization.
  • Review completed work to ensure it meets the product vision and partner with QA teams to maintain high quality standards.
  • Analyze team processes to drive efficiency and provide mentorship to other Product Owners to strengthen overall Agile practices.

What You Bring

  • Degree in Computer Science, Business, or related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CSPO, SAFe PO) are a plus.
  • A minimum of 5–7 years of experience as a Product Owner or in a similar role in software development, ideally in enterprise SaaS or public safety software.
  • Deep understanding of Scrum or Kanban frameworks and proficiency in backlog management and user story creation.
  • Technical acumen or familiarity with software engineering concepts like APIs and cloud architectures.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical requirements to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Deep expertise in Agile frameworks and hands-on proficiency with JIRA and Confluence; experience with "Aha!" is considered a strong asset.
