The Role
The Quality Assurance II has a solid foundation in software testing and a strong drive for quality. As a mid-level QA professional, they play a key role in planning, designing, and executing manual and automated tests to ensure the functionality and stability of our public safety applications. They collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive quality across the software development lifecycle.
What You Do
- Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test cases and test plans based on product requirements and user stories
- Evaluate that test case acceptance criteria has been met.
- Identify, document, and track software defects through resolution
- Collaborate with developers, product managers, and DevOps teams to ensure product quality throughout the release cycle
- Analyze test results, generate reports, and provide feedback to stakeholders
- Maintain and enhance test scripts, frameworks, and automation suites
- Manually fly drones and test hardware to verify requirements are being met
- Mentor junior QA team members and contribute to improving QA best practices
- Performs other related duties as assigned to support team objectives, departmental needs, and overall organizational priorities.
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience and training.
- 2-5 years of professional experience in quality assurance or relevant testing role.
- Proficient in writing test cases, executing tests, and logging bugs
- Familiarity with test automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Postman, etc.
- Experience with testing API’s, web applications, and/or mobile applications.
- Experience with using test management and bug tracking tools such as Gitlab, Jira, TestRail
- Experience working in Agile development environments
- Exposure to CI/CD tooling, such as Gitlab, GitHub Actions, etc
- Ability to approach problems methodically and seek solutions with minimal guidance.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
- Eagerness to learn new technologies, tools, and methodologies.
- Clearance: Ability to pass a criminal background check for CJIS security requirements.
- Part 107 Drone Pilot license
Preferred:
- Austin, Texas location
- ISTQB or relevant certifications
- Familiarity with AI tooling in development workflows
