Position Summary
Read and interpret customer blueprints, specifications and CATIA models to write manufacturing plans for detail parts and sub-assemblies. Support NC Programming, Tool design and manufacturing to ensure an engineering compliant part is produced.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops fabrication or assembly manufacturing plans using the established manufacturing flow. Defines sequences of events, develops text and graphic work instructions, manufacturing datasets, tooling requirements, and manufacturing bill of materials.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, 3D models (CATIA V5), specifications and all other customer defining documentation of new and existing product. Must be able to effectively communicate the requirements in a standard format to production and quality.
- Review Customer Engineering to ensure dataset packages are complete.
- Review Customer Engineering revision levels to ensure proper part configuration is being produced.
- Work daily in the PLM system (SmarTeam/3DX) workflows to realize New Product Introduction, ECR/s/Part Number Rolls and VAEP projects. Must have a strong working knowledge of the workflow process to support product realization and amend/revise workflows as required to streamline product realization.
- Proficient knowledge of and be able to operate the software and equipment used in the department. Software includes but is not limited to Microsoft products, CATIA, SmarTeam and Syteline.
- Supports internal groups, customers, and vendors on a daily basis for all engineering/product definition related needs that arise. Must be able to effectively and professionally communicate with these groups.
- Coordinates activities with technical team members to make corrections or improvements to planning, tooling, or processes.
- Assume leadership/supervisor roll of Manufacturing Engineering team through project leadership and management of strategic engineering projects. This includes project planning, reporting progress and project status, clearly and concise, to the engineering manager.
- Exercise independent judgement and decision making to produce high-quality, low-cost products. While considering all internal processes, part / customer / regulatory requirements.
- Use analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills to identify the most efficient processes and alternative solutions to problems.
- Use knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of products.
- Supports manufacturing in the first part prove out of tooling, detail parts and assemblies.
- Support and/or lead the building of tools/fixtures.
- Integrate new processes and technology to improve quality, cost and safety.
- Perform Root Cause analysis and Corrective Action activities to correct and resolve non-conformities.
- Report to work on time, follow instructions, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow work rules and procedures.
- Must be willing and able to work overtime as necessary.
- Other various duties as needed or as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial or Technology Engineering OR equivalent Aerospace Manufacturing work experience. (Required)
- Minimum five (5) years professional experience working as a planner/manufacturing engineer or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Aerospace Industry (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Strong understanding of machining/assembly disciplines and standard manufacturing processes.
- Proficient knowledge of Configuration Control and PLM (Product Life Management – SmarTeam/3DX).
- Proficient knowledge engineering of Order of Precedence concepts.
- Strong knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of products.
- Strong knowledge in RCCA activities.
Computer:
- CATIA V5 – Basic working knowledge
- Working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (Syteline ERP system is Preferred).
- Working knowledge of MS Office Applications (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point)
- Proficient knowledge in PLM systems (SmarTeam/3DX system is Preferred).
Communication:
- Strong technical writing skills - Must effectively communicate customer requirements, in written form, in a clear and concise manor.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
