Linux Systems Engineer
Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid)
Clearance: Secret (Top Secret preferred)
Status: Exempt
Salary: $130,000.00 - $140,000.00
About This Role
The ideal candidate will support and maintain the client's Information Systems in a distributed environment. Responsible for problem resolution, performance tuning and analysis, proactive problem prevention, detection, circumvention, and resolution to root causes. Provide application of software patches as well as release and version upgrades of operating systems and associated software to maintain supportability. This role could be perfect for you if you are a proficient problem solver with a strong sense of ownership.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience designing, implementing and troubleshooting enterprise class information technology systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering or related IT field.
- 1 of the following certifications: M365E/X, LPIC or Linux+.
- Active Secret clearance (Top Secret preferred)
- Experience engineering and managing Microsoft Windows Servers.
- Experience engineering and managing Linux-based servers.
- Experience managing 24x7 operations, critical problem escalation and resolution and vendor management.
- Extensive IT knowledge and experiencing translating business processes and customer requirements into strategic IT implementation plans.
- Experience with gap analysis between current and future state and identifying opportunities to improve provided IT services.
- Experience with designing/implementing/supporting comprehensive, modular Enterprise IT solutions.
- Planning, organizational, project and portfolio management skills.
- Strong knowledge of at least one scripting language e.g., PowerShell, Java, Python, Perl, Bash, etc.
- Solid understanding of LAN/WAN networks.
- Knowledge of system security techniques.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Possesses strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Possesses knowledge of best practices for maintaining information security.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive company information responsibly.
- Strong experience with Active Directory.
- Provide Tier 3 Operations Support (troubleshooting).
- Strong Experience with Group Policies.
- Strong experience with applying DISA STIGs to information systems.
- Experienced in modifying COTS/GOTS applications to fit the customer’s requirements
- Experience with Relativity
