Clearance: Top Secret w/ SCI eligibility

Status: Exempt

 

Overview:

The Senior Business Analyst will play a critical role in analyzing, designing, and optimizing complex IT systems, offering high-level functional systems analysis, design, integration, and implementation advice. You will engage with cross-functional teams, leveraging your knowledge of information systems architecture, software development methodologies, risk management, and automation. You will provide support for both the evaluation of existing systems and the development of new solutions, guiding decision-making and ensuring alignment with project goals.

 

Responsibilities:

Technical Knowledge & Analysis:

  • Provide expert technical knowledge and analysis of specialized applications and the operational environment to solve complex, moderately challenging problems.
  • Conduct high-level functional systems analysis, offering design and integration solutions that meet customer and contract requirements.
  • Evaluate business needs and develop documentation to support the implementation of automated solutions in complex IT environments.

System Design & Implementation:

  • Apply advanced mathematical principles, methods, and functional area knowledge to address technical problems in engineering and scientific applications.
  • Recommend and implement solutions for automation and optimization, ensuring that all systems are aligned with project objectives and deliverables.
  • Provide guidance on system documentation, integrating technical advice into development processes to ensure smooth and effective implementation.

Specialized Systems & Functional Areas:

  • Collaborate with senior consultants to evaluate and analyze system improvements, optimization efforts, and system development/maintenance requirements.
  • Support the design, integration, and evaluation of systems for new and legacy technologies.
  • Assist in recommendations across several specialized areas including:
    • Information systems architecture
    • Networking and telecommunications
    • Automation and communications protocols
    • Risk management/electronic analysis
    • Software lifecycle management
    • Software development methodologies
    • Modeling and simulation

Client Engagement & Support:

  • Work closely with government clients to understand their business needs and provide tailored solutions.
  • Participate in meetings and technical discussions to ensure all business requirements and system goals are met effectively.
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations for process improvements, system enhancements, and new technology implementation.

Collaborative Work Environment:

  • Collaborate with other senior consultants, engineers, and project managers to achieve project goals and deliverables.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to junior analysts and staff, ensuring adherence to best practices and development standards.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, translating technical information into clear, actionable recommendations.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation:

  • Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in IT, technology trends, and industry best practices to continuously improve system designs and processes.
  • Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions and contribute to the development of innovative approaches to solving complex IT and business problems.

 

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in IT analysis, with a focus on specialized applications, systems analysis, or IT consulting.
  • Bachelor in science, engineering, business or related field.
    • Addition years’ experience may be used in lieu of a bachelor degree.
  • Proven expertise in solving moderately complex technical problems and applying mathematical principles to system solutions.
  • Experience working in government IT services or other complex, regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with various IT specialties, including software development methodologies, system optimization, risk management, and automation.
  • Strong understanding of information systems architecture, networking, telecommunications, and communications protocols.
  • Proficient in analyzing and designing systems for automation, optimization, and software lifecycle management.
  • Experience with risk management practices and electronic analysis techniques.
  • Deep knowledge of software development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) and modeling/simulation tools.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to break down complex issues into actionable steps.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
