Patient Care

Surgery: Intake, Pre-Op, Induction, Monitoring, Post-op, Discharge

ICU
-
Initiating, monitoring, and documenting: Patient treatments; Fluid Therapy; PO, IV, IM, and SQ injections; Calculate drug and fluid doses. Diagnostics: Collecting patient samples; Preparing samples for reference laboratory; Operating Idexx VetLab station and other in house laboratory equipmen; Assist with ultrasounds; Obtain quality radiograph images

Appointments:

Technician Appointments: Nail trims, Anal Gland Expressions, Medical Skin treatments, Vaccines, and other medical treatments

Veterinarian Appointment Set-ups and Assistance.

Obtain and document: SOAP Hx, Vitals, Laboratory samples, Treatment Care Plan. Write and Review Patient Discharges Schedule Follow up care. Assist veterinarian with exams and treatments. Perform diagnostics and treatments ordered by veterinarian

Pharmacy: Review and fill prescriptions in house. Review and understand instructions. Confirm filled prescriptions for accuracy.

Client Education and staff training.

Scrub Allowance: Eligible on 1st day

Paid Time Off: 40 hours first year (accrued)

Paid Holidays: 6 Paid Holidays (Eligible on 1st day)

Health Insurance: (medical, dental, vision): Single and Family, 1st of the month after 60 days of employment

Supplemental Insurance:(e.g. life insurance, critical illness, etc.): 1st of the month after 60 days of employment

401k: 1st of the month following hire date (21 or older), match after 1 year, if minimum hours worked are met/maintained

Position Type: Full-Time (35 hours per week)
Requirements
-
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
-
Current Maryland Registration Certificate or Licensure (RVT/LVT)
-
Certificate of completion of a Veterinary Technicina Program, preferred, but not required
-
Veterinary hospital experience preferred, but not required with current licenses/registration
-
Ability to lift and or carry up to 50 lbs frequently
-
Ability to walk, stand, and bend for sustained periods
-
Ability to use hand and arms to handle and position animals, materials, equipment
-
Flexible work schedule
-
Available to work Tuesday and Thursday evenings until 8pm
-
Ability to kneel for periods of time for animal restraint
-
Physically be able to handle ALL dogs and cats

Exotic animal experience is beneficial, but not required

Ability to take initiative

Technical skills such as intravenous catheter placement, venipuncture, surgical anesthesia monitoring, the ability to operate & troubleshoot medical equipment (digital imaging, lab equipment, IVF pumps, etc) are required after training.
