Veterinary Assistant – Dogs, Cats & Exotics | Full-Time

Chadwell Animal Hospital is seeking a compassionate, motivated, and team-oriented Veterinary Assistant to join our growing practice.
We are a busy, multi-doctor general practice that provides care for not only dogs and cats, but also birds, reptiles, rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, mice, hedgehogs, and other exotic pets. We also support local wildlife rehabilitation efforts, giving our team unique opportunities to work alongside experienced veterinary professionals caring for a wide variety of species.
Whether you're new to veterinary medicine or already have experience in the field, we are looking for someone who is eager to learn, enjoys helping people and animals, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Compensation: $15–$21 per hour, based on experience, with opportunities for overtime.
What You'll Do
Responsibilities may include:
- Safely restraining and handling dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, reptiles, and other exotic species
- Assisting veterinarians and technicians with examinations, treatments, diagnostics, and procedures
- Preparing laboratory samples and running diagnostic tests
- Assisting with surgical preparation and patient recovery
- Maintaining exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical suites
- Providing exceptional client service and patient care
- Feeding, cleaning, and monitoring hospitalized and boarding patients
- Entering medical notes and patient information into our practice management software
- Assisting with emergency and urgent care cases
- Learning species-specific husbandry and handling techniques for exotic pets
What We're Looking For
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Comfortable working with a variety of animal species
- Basic computer proficiency (we have Avimark!)
- Ability to lift and restrain animals safely
- Previous veterinary experience is preferred but not required
