Offensive Security Engineer

We have an exciting opportunity to join our  Security team in Sydney and are currently looking for an Offensive Security Engineer to join the team. 

As an Offensive Security Engineer, you will design and execute adversarial exercises to evaluate the security posture of VGW’s products. Your role will involve testing our ability to detect and respond to threats, as well as identifying and effectively communicating vulnerabilities to the relevant teams for resolution.

Key responsibilities will include:

1. Design and execute penetration tests using industry-standard methodologies to evaluate the security of VGW products and systems.
2. Plan and run adversarial simulation exercises, and develop automated threat emulation solutions.
3. Partner with Security and Software Engineers to address vulnerabilities and attack patterns.
4. Work with Detection & Response Engineers to implement effective alerting strategies based on testing findings.
5. Stay ahead of the curve by researching and evaluating emerging security attack patterns and vulnerabilities.
6. Prepare detailed reports on vulnerabilities and attack methods to inform security strategies and product improvements.

What you will bring to the role:

1. 3+ years experience in offensive security or penetration testing, ideally in cloud environments (preferably AWS).
2. Understanding of MITRE ATT&CK or similar red teaming frameworks.
3. Familiarity with industry-standard penetration testing methodologies (e.g., OSSTMM, OWASP) and tools.
4. Proficiency in coding (e.g., Python) to automate discovery and exploitation of vulnerabilities.
5. Experience with adversarial simulation tools (e.g., pacu, stratus red team, atomic red team).
6. Solid understanding of application security concepts and practices.
