Strategy & Operations Manager, Citymapper

New York City

At Citymapper (a Via company), we’re on a mission to help make complex cities more accessible to everyday users. Our application transports millions of people in hundreds of cities around the world by giving them access to the most current and sophisticated transportation options available. We make getting around your favourite city easy, so that you can enjoy the ride.

As Strategy & Operations Manager at Citymapper, you’ll lead the team of analysts who deliver the high-quality transport data behind our product. Every route, departure time, and disruption alert in the app depends on their work and shapes the Citymapper experience for millions of users every day.

This is a hands-on, leadership-first role: you’ll coach and develop your team, remove blockers, and create the conditions for them to do their best work. Working closely with Product, Engineering, and Commercial teams, you’ll keep the team focused on what matters most to our users and the business, ensuring their work goes beyond maintaining data quality to actively improving the Citymapper experience and driving product growth.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of analysts, creating an environment where people can do their best work.
  • Own data strategy and quality across your international portfolio, helping users rely on Citymapper every day.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Operations to set priorities and deliver improvements.
  • Shape the team’s tools, workflows, and automation, including how AI can improve quality, efficiency, and scale.
  • Turn complex datasets into actionable insights that inform decisions and improve the product.
  • Support key delivery initiatives, coordinating across teams to keep work moving.
  • Co-own product metrics related to data quality and the end-user experience, using them to identify opportunities and measure progress.

Who You Are

  • A strong operator: You have experience in operations, technical, or generalist roles. You're comfortable juggling competing priorities, working across teams, and finding a path forward when things aren't straightforward.
  • Technically comfortable: You can engage with data and product work, dive into unfamiliar topics, and earn your team's trust without needing to be the most technical person in the room.
  • A natural people leader: You know how to motivate people, give constructive feedback, and create an environment where your team can do their best work.
  • A strong project manager: You can keep multiple workstreams organized, maintain momentum, and stay on top of the details.
  • A clear communicator: You build trust quickly across teams and are equally comfortable in an engineering discussion or a commercial conversation.
  • Bonus points if you have experience working with data, Python, and/or common transit data formats (GTFS, TransXChange, SIRI, HAFAS, etc.). It's not required, though. Curiosity and a willingness to learn matter more to us than checking every box on the job description.

What We Offer

  • Salary Range: $100,000-$115,000. Total compensation also includes equity. Final salary will be determined by the candidate’s experience, knowledge, and skills.
  • Comprehensive health coverage, with low-cost dental and vision plans.
  • A 401(k) with company match and vesting.
  • Fully paid parental leave for new parents, with extended leave options.
  • Additional benefits (mental health, pet insurance, and other wellness perks).
  • 20 days of paid time off (PTO) annually.
  • Hybrid work from our New York office, with weekly team lunches.

There has never been a more exciting time to be at the cutting edge of public mobility. Ready to join the ride?
