Compensation: $75,000–$100,000 depending on experience
Experience: 3–5 years of relevant professional experience

Eligibility & Clearance Requirements

Due to federal contract requirements supporting Department of Homeland (DHS) agency programs, applicants must:

  • Be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Currently reside within the United States.
  • Have lived within the U.S. for at least 3 of the past 5 years.
  • Be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. government Public Trust clearance.

Your Route Into Full-Stack Development

Welcome to Via Logic, where innovation meets collaboration. We are seeking a Full Stack Developer with 3–5 years of professional software development experience to support our federal government client. In this role, you will contribute to the development, modernization, testing, and ongoing support of secure, large-scale applications. You’ll work across both frontend and backend components, collaborating with developers, Quality Engineers, analysts, and other technical team members to build new capabilities, enhance existing workflows, troubleshoot issues, and deliver reliable solutions.

Our development environment includes technologies such as React, Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, SQL/PostgreSQL, REST APIs, AWS, Git, and CI/CD tooling. While experience with our core technologies is valuable, we are also interested in developers who bring strong full-stack fundamentals, hands-on experience with comparable modern technologies, and the ability to learn and grow within the environment. This is a great opportunity for a developer who has established a solid foundation across the application stack and is ready to deepen their technical experience while supporting meaningful, mission-driven work.

Your Mission Today

Your Responsibilities

  • Full-Stack Development: Develop, enhance, and maintain secure web applications across frontend and backend components using technologies such as React, Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, SQL, and related frameworks.
  • Frontend Development: Build and maintain responsive, accessible user interfaces and support application workflows using modern JavaScript frameworks.
  • Backend Development: Develop and support application services, APIs, business logic, integrations, and data interactions that power frontend functionality.
  • Application Enhancements & Modernization: Contribute to enhancements of existing applications and workflows while supporting ongoing modernization, migrations, integrations, and backend changes.
  • Integration & Data Management: Work with REST APIs, relational databases, and application data to support accurate and reliable information flow across systems.
  • Testing & Quality: Partner closely with Quality Engineering to support testing strategies, validate application behavior, debug test-environment issues, and identify problems before they reach production.
  • Production Support & Troubleshooting: Investigate and help resolve application issues across frontend, backend, API, integration, and data layers.
  • Code Quality: Participate in peer reviews, testing, debugging, and collaborative development practices that support reliable and efficient delivery.
  • CI/CD & Cloud Support: Work within cloud-based development environments and contribute to automated build, deployment, and CI/CD processes.
  • Security & Accessibility: Apply secure development practices and support applicable federal security, compliance, and accessibility requirements, including Section 508.
  • Agile Collaboration: Actively participate in Agile teams, sprint activities, code reviews, and cross-functional collaboration.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3–5 years of professional software development experience.
  • Full-Stack Development: Hands-on professional experience contributing to both frontend and backend components of web applications.
  • Frontend Development: Experience with React, Angular, or another modern JavaScript framework, along with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and/or TypeScript.
  • Backend Development: Experience developing backend applications or services using Java/Spring Boot, Node.js, Python/Django, or a comparable modern framework.
  • APIs & Data: Experience building, consuming, integrating, or troubleshooting REST APIs and working with SQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
  • Troubleshooting: Experience debugging application behavior and investigating issues across frontend, backend, integration, or data layers.
  • Development Practices: Experience with Git, peer code review, testing, and collaborative software development practices.
  • Agile: Experience working within an Agile development environment using Scrum, SAFe, or similar methodologies.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across development, Quality Engineering, product, and other technical disciplines.

Preferred Experience

  • Hands-on experience with React and Java/Spring Boot.
  • Experience developing or supporting applications in AWS.
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, automated builds, and deployment processes.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift, Terraform, or related DevSecOps technologies.
  • Experience with automated testing and close collaboration with Quality Engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with secure development practices and federal standards such as FISMA, FedRAMP, and NIST SP 800-53.
  • Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility requirements.
  • Previous federal government experience, particularly supporting DHS or USCIS.
  • Current or previous U.S. government Public Trust clearance.

Certifications

No certifications are required. AWS, Java, cloud, DevOps, or related technical certifications are a plus.

How We Work

  • This is a client-facing role that includes virtual collaboration and occasional customer interaction.
  • Team members are expected to actively engage through Slack, Teams, email, Monday.com, and other company or client-provided collaboration tools.
  • Availability for meetings and collaboration between 9 AM–5 PM EST is expected.
  • Cameras on during virtual meetings is part of our collaborative culture.
  • This is a full-time W-2 position.
  • Work must be performed within the United States.
