Viderity is seeking a Junior Wireless Technician responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing wireless communication systems, including cellular towers, network infrastructure, and wireless devices. This entry-level role involves troubleshooting network issues, configuring access points, managing antenna systems, and ensuring optimal signal strength across coverage areas. The Wireless Technician will utilize specialized testing equipment, perform upgrades, and may climb towers to address technical issues, while also supporting customer-facing connectivity concerns.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up new wireless access points, antennas, and related equipment at various sites, including cell towers, ensuring proper alignment and signal strength.
- Diagnose and resolve issues with wireless networks, including signal degradation, interference, and connectivity problems.
- Perform repairs on malfunctioning wireless devices and network components, replacing parts as needed.
- Regularly monitor network performance, identify potential issues, and take corrective actions to maintain system reliability.
- Conduct site surveys to assess coverage areas, identify signal weaknesses, and plan network upgrades.
- Maintain detailed records of installations, repairs, maintenance activities, and network configurations.
- Adhere to safety standards and FCC regulations regarding wireless transmission and tower climbing.
Required Skills:
- 1-3 years of experience in wireless technology, telecommunications, or a related field (or equivalent education/training)
- Strong understanding of wireless networking protocols (Wi-Fi, cellular technologies)
- Expertise in RF signal analysis and antenna systems
- Experience with network troubleshooting tools and techniques
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and specifications
- Proficiency in using test equipment such as signal analyzers, power meters, and spectrum analyzers
- Basic electrical knowledge and ability to work with power systems
- Physical ability to climb towers and work at heights
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to different job sites
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working in an onsite environment requiring security clearance
- Entry-level certifications such as CompTIA Network+ or Certified Tower Climber
- Hands-on experience with wireless equipment installation and repair
- Familiarity with FCC regulations and safety standards for wireless systems
- Basic knowledge of cellular tower maintenance and upgrades
- Previous experience supporting customer-facing wireless connectivity issues
Salary Range: $50,000 - $75,000
