Viderity is seeking a Junior Network Technician responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting computer networks within the organization. This entry-level role involves monitoring network performance, resolving system failures, installing network hardware, and ensuring network security by identifying and addressing potential issues, all while adhering to established network protocols and best practices. The Network Technician will work under supervision to support the network infrastructure and provide technical assistance to users. 

Key Responsibilities 

  

  • Install and set up network hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, and cabling according to specifications. 
  • Regularly monitor network performance, identify potential issues, and perform preventative maintenance to ensure optimal network uptime. 
  • Diagnose and resolve network connectivity problems, including hardware and software malfunctions, by analyzing network traffic and identifying root causes. 
  • Implement and enforce network security policies to protect sensitive data, including managing user access and monitoring for suspicious activity. 
  • Install and manage network software updates to maintain compatibility and apply security patches. 
  • Perform regular data backups and ensure the ability to restore data in case of emergencies. 
  • Provide technical assistance to users regarding network connectivity issues and troubleshoot basic problems. 
  • Maintain accurate records of network configurations, equipment inventory, and troubleshooting steps. 

  

Required Skills: 

  • 1-3 years of experience in a related technical or network support position (or equivalent education/training) 
  • Strong technical knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing), network topologies, and hardware components 
  • Basic troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyze network issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions 
  • Familiarity with network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and cabling systems 
  • Knowledge of network operating systems and management tools 
  • Solid problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills to diagnose network issues 
  • Good communication skills to effectively convey technical information to both technical and non-technical users 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance 
  • Willingness to work onsite and visit different locations as needed to troubleshoot network issues 

Preferred Skills: 

  • Experience working in an onsite environment requiring security clearance 
  • Entry-level certifications such as CompTIA Network+ or Cisco Certified Technician (CCT) 
  • Hands-on experience with network hardware installation and cabling 
  • Familiarity with backup and recovery processes 
  • Basic understanding of network security best practices and monitoring tools 
  • Previous experience providing technical support to end-users 

Salary Range: $45,000 - $70,000
