
Principal Product Designer, Teams/ Collaboration
Vimeo is looking for a Principal Product Designer to lead design for Teams and Collaboration, setting the design vision for team adoption and expansion, member roles, content access, invitation flows, and permissions. Vimeo has grown its product offering dramatically over the past several years and this role will need to consider the use cases of marketers, video professionals, SMBs and Enterprises, allowing them to create, collaborate and distribute video content.
The ideal candidate will have a bias for action, be highly collaborative with numerous product teams at Vimeo, have an understanding of content management models, how customers search for content, an eye for product simplicity, and strong empathy for users.
We need a pragmatic, detailed-minded designer with a strong desire to create best in class products! Someone who has a strong visual point of view, and loves working quickly to generate many different ideas. You should thrive on close collaboration with a cross-functional team and be prepared to lead the way in reimagining how everyone can leverage the power of video.
What you'll do:
- Collaborate with your Product and Engineering partners to craft organizational models that align to industry standards as well as Vimeo’s core use cases.
- Be a proactive and strong communicator, working with other product teams within Vimeo to bring alignment and shared understanding of our architecture in an effort to design simple and cohesive user experiences.
- Work with your Product, Engineering and Marketing partners to launch and iterate toward premium product features and experiences across web and mobile web.
- Design from the concept phase all the way to product release and beyond by crafting high level user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and prototypes.
- Work with our Customer Insights and Data teams to directly engage with users and translate quantitative data and qualitative insights into informed design decisions and new product concepts.
- Efficiently manage timelines and workload of concurrent projects for two teams, utilizing strong prioritization and self management skills.
Skills and knowledge you should possess:
- 7+ years of experience as a product designer, user experience designer, interaction designer, or similar role with accompanying experience in visual/graphic design.
- Exceptional visual design skills, ability to leverage a design system, and seek simplicity in your UX and UI.
- Strong familiarity with industry standard UX practices and methods. Seeks and provides feedback with a positive sense of curiosity.
- Ability to drive design concepts from business strategy discussions through to day-to-day hands-on design execution.
- Excellent user-centered design skills - you have a deep understanding of design fundamentals with a strong proficiency in Figma and modern prototyping tools.
- Customer focused - have experience running moderated and unmoderated user research studies and understand what tools are best to get at the heart of a problem or validate designs. You take time to understand customer needs and feedback.
- Data driven - can apply product metrics to find opportunities for innovation and guide designs.
- Excellent communication skills - can clearly articulate your design vision and rationale through verbal and written explanation to any audience ranging from fellow designers to the leadership team.
- Can drive cross team alignment - are able to create shared alignment by crafting exceptional design presentations, spotting and solving miscommunication and utilizing tools such as design workshops.
- Ability to be autonomous - takes initiative and ownership of projects while collaborating with cross-functional partners and other designers.
- Possess qualities of a strong team leader - are able to mentor other designers and provide support and guidance and are perceived as an exemplary member of the design team.
- Can provide recent portfolio or samples of web / native app product design work informed by quantitative or qualitative user research as well as the process that led to their launch.

Base Salary Range:
- NYC Metro, Bay Area, Seattle, & Los Angeles: $158,000 - $216,500
- All other US cities outside above metro areas: $142,200 - $194,850
