VIP's BizStride team is seeking an experienced Database Engineer to work on the creation of new, enterprise-level systems as well as the maintenance of existing infrastructure. We are looking for a motivated self-starter who enjoys collaboration and innovation. As a database engineer on the BizStride team you will work as a midway point between support and the development team. Some evening availability will be required.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Ensure database security, integrity, stability and system availability
- Tune database for optimum system performance and reliability.
- Ensure data integrity, data quality, and data consistency.
- Profile server resource usage and optimize as necessary
- Maintain database backup and recovery infrastructure
- Assist in monthly database server maintenance and upgrades
- Create, maintain and optimize complex SQL scripts and stored procedures
- Follow (and if necessary, refine) in-house coding standards
- Troubleshoot/bug-fix SQL scripts
- Support application development staff with database design and implementation
- Use database code repositories for change management
- Assist in compliance efforts to include reporting, auditing and implementation
- Effectively communicate and collaborate within and across teams.
- Collaborate on innovative database solutions.
- Mentor team members to improve overall database knowledge.
Requirements:
- BS / MS in Computer Science or related field
- Minimum of 6 years experience as a database engineer with increasing responsibility in designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex database systems in production environments.
- Experience with database performance tuning and optimization.
- Proven track record of successfully managing all stages of large-scale database projects.
- Minimum of 5+ years of solid relational database experience
- Minimum of 6+ years working with MS SQL ServerFamiliarity with programming languages (stored procedures, cursors, node/express )
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with competing priorities
- Ability to manage all the stages of database development
- Expertise in understanding and enhancing complex database models
- In-depth knowledge of referential integrity constraints and indexing
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Knowledge of Snowflake and DB2 is a plus!
