IT Networking Engineer

We are seeking a skilled and motivated IT Networking Engineer to join our IT Team in Colchester, VT. The ideal candidate will have experience in Arista core switching, Palo Alto firewalls, and Mist wireless networks. This role also includes designing, implementing, and supporting site-to-site IPSec VPN tunnels with our customers throughout the country, as well as managing Palo Alto GlobalProtect VPN for employees.

Position Type: Full Time, Hybrid. This position will report to our office headquarters in Colchester, VT

Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Infrastructure Support & Management
    • Configure, deploy, and maintain Arista core switches, ensuring high availability and optimal performance
    • Support and administer Palo Alto firewalls, including policy management, security rule configurations, and threat prevention
    • Manage and optimize Mist wireless networks to ensure seamless connectivity and high performance
    • Maintain and support Cisco campus switches for employee connectivity
  • VPN & Security Implementation
    • Design, implement, and support site-to-site IPSec VPN tunnels with customers and partners.  Troubleshoot VPN connectivity issues and optimize configurations for security and performance. Monitor and maintain VPN connections, ensuring uptime and reliability
    • Manage and support Palo Alto GlobalProtect VPN for employees, ensuring secure remote access
  • Network Optimization & Troubleshooting
    • Perform network monitoring, diagnosis, and troubleshooting using appropriate tools
    • Identify and resolve connectivity, latency, and security issues within network infrastructure
    • Work with vendors and third-party providers for hardware/software support and troubleshooting
  • Project Design & Implementation
    • Assist in designing and implementing network solutions to meet business requirements
    • Provide recommendations for network improvements and upgrades
    • Document network designs, configurations, and best practices

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in network engineering or a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of IPSec VPN tunnels, including implementation and troubleshooting
  • Proficiency in networking technologies  such as BGP, VLANs, and QoS
  • Understanding of firewall policies, security best practices, and threat management
  • Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools
  • Ability to document network designs and configurations clearly

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Arista core switching, when designed in a leaf-spine architecture.  In depth knowledge of EVPN-VXLAN overlays and BGP configuration and troubleshooting in multi-AS environments
  • Experience with Palo Alto Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFWs) and associated security policies, as well as supporting Palo Alto GlobalProtect
  • Experience with Mist wireless networking.  General knowledge of 802.11 wireless standards and RADIUS authentication.  Experience in troubleshooting wireless issues in a mixed client (Windows & MacOS) environment
  • Experience working in a multi-site network environment
  • Knowledge of cloud networking (AWS, Azure) is beneficial
