Position Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and skilled IT Systems Administrator to join our growing IT team. Reporting directly to the IT Manager, you will assist in the management of our IT infrastructure, focusing on system efficiency, security, and support. This position requires a proactive approach to technology, keen problem-solving skills, and a strong foundation in IT principles. Based on our operational needs, this role involves significant focus on user account management, endpoint administration (primarily macOS using Jamf), core SaaS platform administration (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365), and providing timely technical support via our ticketing system (Jira).
What you’ll do here:
- Assist in the setup, maintenance, and administration of IT systems, including Google Workspace, macOS, Windows, and Linux environments.
- In conjunction with the IT Security Team, support the implementation of security measures, which include regular system audits, vulnerability assessments, and user access controls.
- Collaborate with the IT Manager to resolve technical issues, maintain system availability, and ensure compliance with internal policies across all platforms.
- Participate in the development and implementation of new system installations, upgrades and migrations.
- Assist in the management of IT inventory, including hardware, software, and other IT supplies.
- Help document IT procedures to ensure consistency and maintainability.
- Provide end-user support and training to ensure staff can effectively utilize technology.
- Provide frontline desktop/helpdesk support to all employees.
- Setup, configuration and deployment of computers, hardware and software
- Respond to queries and perform remote or in-person troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques
- Diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, upgrading and documenting all user-based hardware to ensure optimal performance.
- New user onboarding, which includes account creation, providing orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment; Offboarding of users and equipment recovery
- Provide end-user training when/where appropriate and required.
- Help build an internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals and IT policies
- Provides support with network security initiatives, DevOps and recommends solutions to support IT and company initiatives
- Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems
- Maintain records/logs of cybersecurity incidents, application performance, repairs and fixes
- Perform internal audits to ensure internal policy compliance
- Track, route, and redirect unresolved issues to correct resources within the IT department
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field - or, equivalent experience
- 2-5 years of experience in a similar role.
- Understanding of IT support processes and technical standards such as ITSM, SOC2 and ISO27001.
- Knowledge and extensive experience with operating systems including macOS, Windows, and Linux.
- Experience administering Google Workspace instances.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues with hardware, software, and network systems.
- Basic understanding of information security practices and compliance frameworks.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with team members and non-technical personnel.
- Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt in a rapidly changing environment.
- Team-oriented mindset with a strong capacity for collaborative work.
- Ability to commute to Mississauga.
