The Role

The Junior Accountant will be a key support to the Finance Manager, delivering accurate, compliant, and commercially relevant financial information for Virgin Bet South Africa. This role is at the intersection of financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and operational finance within a fast-growing, multi-licensed online betting business. The role is critical in ensuring the accurate reporting of GGR, VAT, and gambling levies, maintaining the integrity of payment service provider (PSP), customer wallet, and bank reconciliations, ensuring compliance with South African regulatory frameworks, and executing month-end, reporting, and audit processes efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting and Month-End Close

  • Support the preparation of balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts.
  • Perform monthly supplier reconciliations and resolve outstanding items.

Regulatory Compliance & Audit Support

  • Support the finance team in ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Ensure financial records are maintained in an audit-ready state.

Accounts Payable and Payments

  • Assist with accounts payable and payment processing
  • Maintain strong internal controls to ensure smooth operations.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Someone with a solid grounding in accounting and tax principles.
  • Proven experience with multi-currency environments and month-end close processes.
  • Qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems and online banking platforms.
  • Exposure to gambling/betting/fintech or other high-volume transaction environments is advantageous
