The Role

The Finance Administrator will be a key support to the Finance Manager, delivering accurate, compliant, and commercially relevant financial information for Virgin Bet South Africa. This role is at the intersection of financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and operational finance within a fast-growing, multi-licensed online betting business. The role is critical in ensuring the accurate reporting of GGR, VAT, and gambling levies, maintaining the integrity of payment service provider (PSP), customer wallet, and bank reconciliations, ensuring compliance with South African regulatory frameworks, and executing month-end reporting, and audit processes efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Revenue, GGR & Tax Accounting

  • Ensure the correct accounting treatment of bonuses and free bets.
  • Manage the resettlement and reconciliation of betting transactions.
  • Perform VAT extraction from Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR).
  • Prepare and submit Betting Tax and VAT returns, including input and output for accuracy.

Financial Reporting and Month-End Close:

  • Support the preparation of balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts.

Regulatory Compliance & Audit

  • Support the finance team in ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Keep documentation audit-ready at all times.

Accounts Payable and Payments:

  • Assist with accounts payable, payment processing,
  • Maintain strong internal controls to ensure smooth operations.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Someone with a solid grounding in accounting and tax principles.
  • Proven experience with multi-currency environments and month-end close processes.
  • Experience with accounting systems, preferably QuickBooks.
  • Exposure to gambling/betting/fintech or other high-volume transaction environments is advantageous.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with suppliers, auditors, and regulators.
  • A collaborative team player.
