Director of Business Automation

Washington, DC - Hybrid

About Virtru:

While the rest of the security industry obsesses over locking data down to prevent it from being lost or stolen, we're doing something fundamentally different at Virtru. We're setting data free so that you can intentionally share it with others, but without sacrificing security, privacy, or control.

We've created both a suite of powerful data protection applications and an open platform that's sparking an ecosystem of innovation. Through the Trusted Data Format (TDF) open standard, we're not just protecting data; we're creating a new paradigm where security enables sharing rather than preventing it.

Think of us as the Android of data protection: a robust platform with an open core that developers and partners can build upon, coupled with our own best-in-class applications that showcase what's possible when you reimagine security from the ground up.

Backed by Iconiq Capital, Bessemer Venture Partners, Foundry Capital, and Tiger Global, we're helping Fortune 500 companies and government agencies discover that true data security means having the freedom to share, collaborate, and innovate — without compromise.

Compensation: $180,000 - 210,000

Team & Position Details:

We are seeking a strategic and innovative Director of Business Automation to lead a team responsible for driving growth and efficiency across the company. Reporting to the VP of Operations & Analytics, this position will oversee the automation of critical business processes, including the implementation of agentic AI workflows and other advanced applications of artificial intelligence.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of and proven track record with business process automation, hands-on technical experience building workflows, close collaboration with commercial teams such as sales and marketing, and practical expertise leveraging LLMs to drive intelligent decision-making at scale.

As a Director of Business Automation, your responsibilities will include:

Business Process Optimization:

  • Work closely with stakeholders throughout the business to identify high-impact opportunities for process improvement and automation.
  • Design and implement agentic AI workflows that autonomously handle complex, multi-step business processes using LLMs, with appropriate human-in-the-loop oversight.
  • Build and deploy workflows in n8n that connect disparate systems to reduce manual work and increase speed, scale, and efficiency.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of an AI Sales Development Representative (SDR) strategy that produces personalized and effective outreach at scale.
  • Manage key projects aimed at improving business critical functions such as: go-to-market rollout, new customer handoff, competitive intelligence gathering, and prospect identification.
  • Maintain accountability for impact to business outcomes throughout and after project implementation.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Systems Integration:

  • Regularly interface with stakeholders across sales, marketing, customer success, and other departments to maintain a strong understanding of business priorities and key objectives.
  • Partner with operations and analytics teams to leverage tools such as n8n.io and Salesforce Flow within Virtru’s current environment of ERP systems.
  • Collaborate with Virtru’s IT and Security team to understand the holistic Virtru tech stack and integration points.
  • Integrate data from sources like Gong, ZoomInfo, and ERP systems to drive intelligent decision-making.

Governance and Security:

  • Establish and maintain robust AI governance frameworks ensuring policy-compliant execution with necessary oversight and security controls.
  • Work closely with Virtru’s IT and Security team to implement processes to prevent unwanted data leakage across systems and identities.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Build and manage (both directly and indirectly) a team of automation specialists and engineers.
  • Mentor team members on LLM implementation, workflow design, n8n development, and process optimization.
  • Foster a culture of experimentation, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Set clear priorities and success metrics for team deliverables.

Skills that will help you thrive in this role:

  • 3+ years of experience working with business process automation, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership or senior individual contributor capacity.
  • Hands-on technical proficiency with workflow automation platforms (n8n experience highly preferred; alternatives like Zapier, Make, Workato, or similar considered).
  • Strong understanding of sales and marketing processes, with proven ability to automate go-to-market workflows and revenue operations.
  • Practical experience implementing LLM-based solutions, including prompt engineering, agent frameworks (e.g., LangChain, CrewAI, AutoGen), and API integrations with LLM providers.
  • Proven familiarity with Salesforce or equivalent CRM platforms, including custom objects, flows, APIs, and data architecture.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments to drive strategic business initiatives and influence without direct authority.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making and quantifiable business impact.
  • Experience managing technical projects from conception through deployment, iteration, and ongoing optimization.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with AI agent frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, AutoGen, CrewAI, or similar).
  • Familiarity with API development, webhooks, and RESTful integrations.
  • Background in data engineering, analytics, or business intelligence.
  • Previous experience in cybersecurity, enterprise software, or B2B SaaS environments.
  • Knowledge of modern data stack tools (e.g., Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, Segment).
  • Experience with conversation intelligence platforms (Gong, Chorus) and sales engagement tools.

Virtruvian qualities that will set you up for success:

  • Thinking outside of the box to respectfully challenge your teammates and managers in the pursuit of excellence
  • Strong sense of urgency with an action-oriented mindset
  • Able to collaborate and adapt to shifting priorities as business needs evolve

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
