About the role:

The Senior Buyer is a permanent full-time role and will be responsible for a variety of activities including Purchase Order management including Statement Of Work (SOW), Lead Time, price and contract negotiations. The ideal candidate is highly articulate and analytical who possess strong interpersonal skills to work with suppliers and vendors as well as with internal cross-functional teams. Candidate should be comfortable collecting, analyzing, and presenting complex procurement and supplier data. 

How you'll make an impact: 

  • Review and convert purchase requisitions and requirements from the MRP/MPS to purchase orders ensuring data accuracy and expedite purchase orders through the approval process when necessary.
  • Review purchase requisitions and confer with vendors to obtain product information such as price, availability, delivery schedule, and reviewing quotes for accuracy and competitive strategies.
  • Create and maintain mutually beneficial long-term partnerships with suppliers to foster feedback and continuous improvement, usually being the single source of contact for the vendor.
  • Collaborate with Visby’s GSMs (General Sourcing Managers) to investigate and recommend new vendors and suppliers.
  • Track and update supplier ship commitments to ensure parts availability for forecasted build plans.
  • Review E&O (excess and obsolescence) Inventory and Open Purchase Orders and recommend disposition to leadership.
  • Generate post-mortem performance reports vs planned targets and present to leadership.
  • Support supplier qualification, material control, and disposition (MRB).
  • Collaborate with Legal to ensure contracts and NDAs are routed for appropriate signatures. 
  • Collaborate with Finance and other internal customers to resolve procure-to-pay issues.
  • Assist with implementation of improved Procure-to-Pay business processes and controls using software and other systems.
  • Develop and Implement processes and tools to enhance productivity and lower costs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

On your first day we’d like you to have

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred with a minimum of 8 plus years of experience in purchasing role required.
  • Experience with fast pace / high volume disposable in ISO environment (Medical device preferred).
  • A strong background in chemicals and reagents, injection molded components, PCBAs, and/or indirect purchasing preferred. 
  • Computer proficiency
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs.  
    • Intermediate Excel skills (including Pivot tables and VLOOKUP formulas is highly recommended. You will be asked to demonstrate your skills.
  • Strong ERP/MRP experience systems required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, pleasant, and a professional demeanor and the ability to work as part of a team and build positive relationships with suppliers.
  • A strong understanding of inventory turns and days of inventory calculations is a plus.

Salary Range:

  • $105,000 - $125,000 (salary range for candidates based in San Jose, CA)
  • Compensation for the role is based on geographical location. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly.
  • Compensation also depends on a number of factors including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
