Director, Product Design
Visier gives organizations a Workforce AI Edge: a set of AI-powered capabilities that help leaders understand the relationship between people and work, elevate the productivity of their employees, and win by adapting to change faster. We're a global leader in AI-powered people analytics, workforce planning, and compensation management solutions. All Visier technology is underpinned by its Real-time People Data Platform, which uses AI to unlock the business-transforming potential of people data, work data, and the fusion of both.
Founded in 2010 by the pioneers of business intelligence, Visier has over 60k customers in 75 countries - including enterprises like BASF, Panasonic, Experian, Amgen, eBay, Ford Motor Company, and more.
You know that sweet spot where complexity meets clarity? That’s where we live. Visier turns vast amounts of people data into insights that actually help humans lead better. We’re looking for a Director of Product Design who loves working at that intersection; someone who can zoom out to see the big use case, zoom in to perfect the details, and bring others along for the ride.
As a senior member of our design organization, you’ll help shape the experience of our platform, guide cross-functional teams through ambiguity, and make messy problems simple and elegant. You’ll mentor and manage others, lead our UX strategy and execution, influence product strategy, and work shoulder-to-shoulder with Product Managers and Development leads to give beautiful form to big ideas. You’ll be responsible for making our user experience as seamless and intuitive as possible and for the delivery of results by the Design function. You and your team will be working on existing products, such as Visier People, our People Data Platform, and our Workforce Planning and AI products, as well as other cutting-edge features and products we are taking to market.
We’re at that ideal size: big enough to take on ambitious problems, small enough that your ideas truly have impact and velocity.
What You’ll Do
Strategic leadership & execution oversight:
- Working with PM, Dev, and Design team members, lead the definition and execution of our UX vision and strategy.
- Champion a user-centric design culture, oversee user research and testing, and ensure delivery of innovative, intuitive, and cohesive end-to-end user experiences that align directly with business objectives and drive high customer adoption and satisfaction.
- Guide the development and evolution of our design systems and practices as we grow, ensuring consistency, scalability, and efficiency in design execution across all product development teams.
Team leadership & management:
- Mentor, lead, and manage a diverse team of designers and help raise the design bar across product development teams.
- Define, implement, and continuously improve design processes and standards to maximize the quality, velocity, and efficiency of the Design team.
- Set goals and objectives for the team, allocate resources and assign tasks, and monitor team performance.
- Measure and track performance across both quantitative and qualitative KPIs to continuously monitor, analyze, and report on the effectiveness of UX initiatives.
- Hire and develop team members.
Design & deliver:
- Drive/own end-to-end design for our core products and projects; from framing the problem to interaction details.
- Lead discovery with cross-functional partners to identify and define the right problems to solve.
- Bring curiosity, craft, and clarity to conversations that start messy.
- Conduct user research to identify needs and opportunities and define user personas and journeys.
- Translate complex workflows into intuitive, human-centered experiences.
- Working iteratively, translate concepts into sketches, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mock-ups to establish a strong user experience vision and then review and validate your designs directly with end-users and stakeholders through testing and feedback sessions to understand needs, pain points, and behaviors and to improve usability and satisfaction.
- Support development with the right level of documentation and guidance as they begin to implement your design.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a hands-on leader who can think strategically and operate tactically to deliver results. The ideal candidate operates with humility, is open-minded, prioritizes team success over personal credit, and actively seeks feedback to drive function-wide improvement.
Skills:
- Ability to turn ambiguity into structure: you’re as comfortable mapping a system as you are polishing a flow.
- Strength in storytelling: you can guide a group toward shared understanding.
- Passion for working on complex, data-rich products where clarity and usability are hard-won.
- A collaborative spirit: you like working with smart, opinionated people who challenge you (and expect the same).
- Ability to independently research, understand, and define user personae, including subject matter nomenclature.
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence senior management and executive leaders.
Experience:
- 10+ years of progressive experience in UX or product design for complex software applications, with a portfolio that shows how you think, not just what you made.
- 3-5+ years in a formal leadership role managing product design or UX teams.
- Demonstrated experience planning and conducting user research and usability tests.
- Expert-level knowledge of design systems, and familiarity of and experience with design and development processes (e.g., Lean, Agile, Design Sprints, Design Thinking).
- Experience using some industry standard design tools (e.g., Figma, Claude Desktop, Adobe CC,or other related design tools).
Not required but advantageous:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Your strong interaction design background ideally includes experience with SaaS products used by large enterprises and/or in Business Intelligence, Analytics, ETL, or Data Visualization domains.
