Vista Del Mar provides a trauma-responsive continuum of services to empower children, youth, and families in Southern California to lead fulfilling lives.

Role Overview:     

The ERSEA Associate-Vista Village conducts parent outreach, enrollment, planning and coordination of family activities/events, and liaison to community partners and other members of the community recertification, and disenrollment of children in the Early Head Start and childcare programs and acts as the liaison between families and childcare providers. The associate also works closely with other team members to provide case management and transition services, and support children’s progress towards school readiness. Supports the Vista Village vision of nurturing, equitable beginnings and the implementation within the scope of the role

Essential Job Duties (other duties may be assigned)

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion by continuously developing and modeling inclusive behaviors while proactively managing bias
  • Determine eligibility and need for services, and manage intakes, re-certifications, enrollments, and disenrollments in ChildPlus, CareConnect, Teaching Strategies, and ASQ, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Lead and participate in community outreach efforts and family events, including workshops, celebrations, and field trips, as part of the ERSEA team.
  • Act as the liaison between childcare providers and families during the intake and enrollment process and thereafter.
  • Ensures that all documentation in the family file, CareConnect, and ChildPlus is complete, correct, and up to date.
  • Monitor the collection of parent fees in coordination with the Childcare Manager and front office.
  • Support the ERSEA team in planning, coordinating, and facilitating Parent Advisory Committees and other family engagement groups.
  • Assist families, childcare providers, and program staff in supporting transitions to Head Start, preschool, and kindergarten.
  • Update EHS/childcare waiting list in coordination with front office including calling families on the wait list to collect initial information and provide updates on service availability.
  • Create and distribute monthly community resources, program letters, calendars, flyers, and a triannual newsletter to program families, ensuring timely and effective communication.
  • Coordinate transportation for children and parents in ride share app to designated program Activities
  • Coordination of Socialization Group activities – maintain RSVP list, update staff on RSVP list status, create a running list of car seats to ensure children are transported safely; share the list with appropriate staff to maintain inventory and purchases needed car seats.
  • Perform all job duties in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards, ERSEA systems and program’s policies and procedures.
  • Participate in annual audits for state and federal programs.
  • Participate in all required meetings.

Pay Range: $28.84 - $30.00 / hour

What You Bring to VDM:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing/communication, social work, or related field with a minimum of 2 years’ experience working with the community.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills and be comfortable using online platforms and digital tools.
