Position Overview
The RN Director of Health Services is responsible for the operation of Health Services and supervision of nursing staff to ensure compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) standards. The Director of Health Services is a liaison to the Direct Care (YDC) staff, clinical staff and Unit Directors, assisting them with the medical aspects of clients’ treatment program. This position also provides direct supervision of residents and participates in their milieu, demonstrating an understanding and practice consistent with Vista Del Mar’s relationship-based treatment approach.
Essential Job Duties (other duties may be assigned):
- Supervises, protects, and cares for children both individually and in groups at all times;
- Assists each child in working with a group and in handling individual problems;
- Administers discipline and sets limits for behavior;
- Notes the child’s progress; identifies the possible need for professional services; and communicates such findings to professional staff;
- Is responsible for the direct health care of children;
- Participates in the establishment and implementation of the Agency Nursing Services Department philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures;
- Participates regularly in Treatment Team and Unit meetings in the Special Care Facility (SCF/CTF);
- Establishes and implements Health Center standards, objectives, policies and procedures;
- Continuously evaluates the effectiveness of patient care and provides or seeks means to upgrade care as necessary;
- Evaluates and supervises nursing personnel;
- Transmits and interprets to medical and non-medical staff, medical information received from outside medical consultants during children’s off-grounds visits;
- Ensures compliance with all licensure and accreditation standards;
- Assists physicians as needed;
- Provides specific in-service training as deemed necessary by the agency in areas of general health issues, basic First Aid, infection control, etc.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor;
- Serves as a Health Center representative on many committees;
- Overseas Quality Assurance tasks quarterly with regard to Health Center, etc.;
- Is responsible for carrying out particulars with regard to physical health contracts;
- Ensures clients’ compliance for their insurance plans;
- Serves as a liaison between the Pharmacy and the Health Center.
What you bring to VDM?
- Registered nurse; current CA license;
- BSN in Nursing or related field;
- Psychiatric experience;
- Management/supervisory experience;
- Physical ability to independently perform basic nursing tasks and CPR;
- Ability to hear and verbally communicate with others.
Salary Range: $115,000 - $120,000 annually
