POSITION OVERVIEW
The Trainer for Vista Haven conducts training sessions, selects or develops training materials, and maintains records of training program attendance, training sessions offered, and evaluation measures. Maintains documentation, forms, and paperwork. Ensures protection and completion of staff files. The primary goal is to ensure all care provider staff are trained in child welfare best practices, trauma-informed care, and compliance with all Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) policies and state regulations. This position is expected to function effectively with limited supervision while following procedures and regulatory requirements for agency, federal, and state licensing.
Essential Job Duties
1. Collaborates with Vista Haven Program Leadership, VDM Human Resources team, and VDM trainers to prepare for new hires and schedule new hire training.
2. Responsible for overseeing that each new hire completes all required training, such as VDM Fundamental training, CPI Training (2-day live training), Risking Connection Training (3-day live training), First Aid and CPR Training (1-day live training), and dispatching ORR Training, totaling 40+ hours per year.
3. Coordinates the assignment of shadowing in conjunction with the Direct Care Supervisor, reviewing the Direct Care Training Manual, conducting the testing, and ensuring that all required initial training is completed as per regulatory requirement Responsible for submitting required forms to the Coordinator of Direct Care Staff promptly and within 30 days of hire.
4. Facilitate in-person training sessions, workshops, webinars, and potentially e-learning modules for new and existing Vista Haven
5. Assist with designing, creating, and updating training materials, resources, and tools on topics such as child welfare, trauma-informed care, behavior management, and identifying victims of trafficking.
6. Conduct training needs assessments to identify knowledge gaps and analyze feedback and data from evaluations to improve training effectiveness continuously.
7. Ensure all training programs meet ORR guidelines and state licensing requirements; create and maintain an electronic database of all employee training records for audit purposes.
8. Tracks and coordinates specialized training at least monthly, for direct care staff and others as required, including Risking Connections (RC), CSEC.
9. Coordinates annual review courses conducted at least yearly and Trauma Informed training throughout the year.
10. Tracks and recognizes National Awareness months, to offer brief training to create awareness of each event, and at times, offer staff recognition.
11. Assists in the preparation of program audits, including Personnel File Reviews, and ensures adherence to Agency and licensing standards and contractual and funding agreements.
12. Assist in implementing policies and procedures related to care, safety, and services, ensuring staff understanding and adherence.
WHAT YOU BRING TO VDM
- Bachelor's degree in behavioral sciences, human services, or social service field
- Must have at least 1 year of experience working with child welfare standards, facilitating and training, or quality assurance or compliance excellent work habits and attendance.
- A thorough understanding of residential treatment; demonstrate leadership abilities; Strong understanding of working with emotionally disturbed youth and related clinical implication.
- Must have excellent time management skills and organizational skills.
- Training in First-Aid, CPR, and CP
- Must be trained in Risking Connections as well as Commercially Sexually Exploited Children (CSEC) programs.
SALARY - 52,422.99 - 55,044.00
