UI Art Lead - NBA 2K

What We Need:

Our NBA 2K Novato studio is looking for a highly skilled UI Art Lead to help shape the user interface for the next installment of the NBA 2K franchise. You’ll work with a large and versatile team to design user flows and wireframes, develop a consistent visual language, and implement a striking and intuitive user experience across every mode of the game.

NBA 2K is an exciting and ambitious game with a diverse set of features and requirements. You will grow and develop in many different areas, learning from a highly skilled team while working on innovative technology. What You Will Do:

  • Develop the overall user interface look and feel for the next installment of NBA 2K
  • Visually communicate complex ideas and sophisticated gameplay through user friendly interface designs
  • Work across functions to define and develop the full scope of UI needs
  • Build wireframes, provide feedback, and propose improved user flows
  • Create and provide feedback for mockups, ensuring stylistic consistency
  • Utilize industry standard 2D software applications and prototyping tools to create user interfaces and interactive prototypes (Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
  • Catalog, assign and track UI screens and accompanying assets and animations
  • Direct creation of UI assets for consistency and ease of implementation
  • Establish standard methodologies and shared literacy for organization, screen, and component construction
  • Foster and lead UI team members to work collaboratively, communicate well, and inspire each other
  • Anticipate challenges
  • Build relationships with Tools and UI engineers to improve functionality

 

Who Will Be A Great Fit:

  • Minimum of 7 years of video game experience in a UI/UX role
  • Minimum of 2 years in a leadership position managing small to medium sized teams
  • Experience on multi-sku, multi-resolution console and PC projects
  • Experience working in game engines, and with UI tool kits
  • Strong leadership, coordination, alignment-building, development process
  • Ability to create high-quality work in a fast-paced environment and able to incorporate feedback from multiple collaborators across multiple teams
  • Attention to detail and completeness, ability to see around corners and anticipate issues
  • Proactive and solutions oriented
  • Outstanding teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Positive personality and an ability to receive and provide objective feedback.
  • Awareness of current trends in UI design in the game industry.
  • Good sensibilities as it relates to user experience
  • Willingness to learn and the ability to remain flexible
  • A love for video games (not just ours!)

 

Might Be Nice:

  • VFX and animation literacy and experience
  • Understanding of Design Systems and Common Components
  • Experience working in 3D including Maya, Cinema 4D, Element 3D, or other industry standard software
  • Knowledge of the NBA brand and style
  • Knowledge of other Sports, and Sport Brands

 

This is a fully remote role that may be based anywhere in the United States. Below are the expected salary and wage ranges for applicants based in locations where the pay transparency law is in effect: California: $ 123,200 - $172,500 per year. New York State (inclusive of New York City): $107,100 - $150,000 per year. Washington: $123,200 - $172,500 per year. New Jersey: $107,100 - $150,000 per year. British Columbia: $96,400 - $135,000 (CAD) per year.  Base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an 'at-will position' and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
