Vixxo is seeking a full-time, Senior Accountant to be based in Scottsdale, AZ.

Position Summary

The Senior Accountant supports the Accounting Manager in the accurate, timely recording and presentation of financial transactions under US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This is an individual-contributor role with no direct reports. The Senior Accountant owns assigned general-ledger areas through month-end close, partners with Accounts Payable, FP&A, IT, Projects, Business Analytics, and Operations, and oversees work performed by Vixxo's offshore accounting team for quality, completeness, and timeliness.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ensure assigned transactions are properly recorded in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Serve as a primary accounting contact for Accounts Payable, FP&A, Projects, and Business Analytics on assigned accounting and reporting matters.
  • Collaborate with departments inside and outside Finance to support company objectives, and build working relationships through clear, timely communication.
  • Own month-end close for assigned areas, including preparing and posting daily and monthly journal entries related to unbilled reserves, fixed assets, expense classification and coding, borrowing base and debt transactions, intercompany transactions, and other reserves and estimates, with complete supporting schedules, documentation, and required approvals.
  • Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations for assigned accounts, research outstanding items, and recommend and implement corrective action so items clear timely and appropriately.
  • Coordinate quarterly Balance Sheet reviews with Finance leaders and drive follow-up and accountability on open items.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies and designing, implementing, and maintaining processes that help the team scale. Use AI-assisted tools where they improve accuracy, documentation, or efficiency.
  • Support the Accounting Manager on lender/compliance exams and the annual financial-statement audit, including PBC lists, sample support, walkthroughs, and follow-up.
  • Draft and maintain accounting policies and procedures for assigned topics under US GAAP, including expense recognition and accounting estimates, for Accounting Manager review. Support revenue-recognition documentation as assigned.
  • Oversee work performed by Vixxo International (offshore accounting partner), including month-end reconciliations and bank-compliance deliverables: prioritize the queue, review quality, provide feedback, and transfer knowledge.
  • Support, cross-train, and serve as backup for other team members as needed.
  • Help maintain an effective internal control environment and keep related documentation current.
  • Assist with other ad-hoc requests or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required. Active CPA license is preferred (must be CPA eligible).
  • Minimum of 5 years of general accounting or audit experience is required.
  • Advanced Excel skills required, specifically in high-volume data organization and analysis.
  • Experience using AI-assisted tools for analysis, reconciliation, or process documentation is a plus. Familiarity with Claude or Cursor is helpful.
  • JD Edwards experience is preferred; SAP Business ByDesign experience is a plus.
  • Proven experience with change management, process-improvement initiatives, and ERP system implementation or upgrade is a plus.
  • Experience with project accounting is a plus.
  • Experience reviewing or overseeing work from offshore or outsourced accounting teams is preferred.
  • Public accounting experience a plus.

  • Proven ability to review the work of others, including offshore team members, and provide clear, timely feedback. Willingness to learn the business.
  • Excellent time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and take on additional projects as needed.
  • Strong financial analysis skills to identify and research variances from expectation and find the business drivers behind those variances.
  • A team player with the ability to collaborate and adapt in a changing environment.
