Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Vice President of Engineering to lead our core engineering teams, which includes back-end engineers, front-end engineers, and DevOps. This role is critical to building and expanding Vizit’s groundbreaking visual intelligence platform and proprietary visual analytics software. 

As the VP of Engineering, you will be responsible for driving innovation, ensuring best-in-class engineering practices, and scaling the technical infrastructure that powers Vizit's patented technology. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leadership in a SaaS startup environment, strong technical expertise, and experience with cloud-native, serverless architectures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Strategy:
    • Lead and mentor the engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
    • Collaborate with the CTO and other senior leaders to define and execute the technical vision and strategy for Vizit’s core platform, self service product, and partner program technology.
    • Drive the engineering roadmap to support product development and customer success goals.
    • Ensure alignment between engineering efforts and business objectives, delivering scalable solutions on time and within budget.
    • Customer-Obsessed Leader: A proven track record of championing the customer experience, deeply understanding customer needs, and driving product decisions that prioritize delivering exceptional value.
    • Builder of Self-Service Excellence: Demonstrated success in designing and scaling self-service solutions that empower customers to achieve outcomes independently, reducing friction and increasing engagement.
    • Automation and Streamlining Advocate: Passionate about leveraging technology to simplify and accelerate the customer’s path to value through innovative automation and process optimization.
  • Operational Excellence and Compliance:
    • Champion agile methodologies and processes to ensure high performance, transparency, and predictability across engineering teams.
    • Implement and manage tools and processes for continuous integration, delivery, and deployment (CI/CD) with an emphasis on test-driven development (TDD).
    • Own the reliability and scalability of Vizit's platform, ensuring high availability and performance for our enterprise customers.
    • Ensure adherence to Vizit’s SOC procedures and maintain compliance standards, serving as a role model for security and compliance across the organization.
  • Team Development & Growth:
    • Attract, hire, and retain top engineering talent, building a team capable of supporting Vizit’s rapid growth and technological advancement.
    • Promote a culture of ownership, creativity, and accountability, driving high engagement across the engineering organization.
    • Establish career development plans for engineers, fostering both technical and leadership growth within the team.
  • Technical Leadership:
    • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of high-quality enterprise software systems and services using Python, AWS, and serverless infrastructure.
    • Lead the organization’s efforts in CI/CD, automated testing, and other engineering best practices, ensuring a robust and reliable codebase.
    • Support the continued development and refinement of Vizit’s Visual Content Effectiveness Platform.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing high performance teams of engineers.
    • Proven success leading engineering in a startup enterprise SaaS environment, ideally one that scales products using cloud-native and serverless technologies.
    • Recent experience leading an enterprise B2B SaaS engineering team at a fast paced, high-growth Marketing, E-commerce, or Sales/CRM startup company.
    • Strong experience with core technologies such as Python, AWS, serverless infrastructure, and CI/CD pipelines.
    • Experience managing the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), from planning and architecture to testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Deep understanding of AWS, serverless architecture, microservices, and cloud infrastructure.
    • Proficiency in Python, with experience in architecting scalable systems on AWS.
    • Strong grasp of modern engineering practices including TDD, automated testing, and CI/CD.
    • Experienced with AWS Lambda and SQS as part of architecting and scaling event-driven systems.
    • Familiarity with front-end development (UI/UX) and DevOps best practices is a plus.
  • Leadership & Communication:
    • Highly entrepreneurial with a natural desire to move fast, and win. 
    • Exceptional leadership, team-building, and coaching skills with the ability to inspire and motivate high-performance teams.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders across the company and lead cross-functional initiatives.
    • Strategic mindset with a strong ability to balance short-term deliverables with long-term planning.
