The Payroll and Benefits Specialist is responsible for managing all aspects of payroll processing and benefits administration. This includes accurate and timely processing of semi-monthly payroll, maintaining employee records, administering group benefits, managing leave programs, and providing support to employees and management regarding payroll and benefits inquiries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll Processing: Accurately process semi-monthly payroll, including adjustments for new hires, terminations, and changes in employee status.
- Employee Records Management: Maintain and update personnel records in internal systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Payroll & Benefits Support: Act as the main point of contact for payroll, time and attendance, and benefits inquiries from employees and management.
- Reporting: Prepare and produce custom payroll and benefits reports as required by management or regulatory agencies.
- Group Benefits Administration: Administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, and wellness benefits, and manage Group RRSPs.
- Leaves Management: Oversee and manage various employee leave programs, including vacation, sick leave, and parental leaves.
- Training & Onboarding: Conduct benefits information sessions for new hires to ensure they are informed about available benefits and company policies.
Requirements:
- Certification in payroll, office administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in payroll and benefits administration, ideally in a similar role.
- Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) certification is an asset.
- High standard of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism in all dealings.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Experience with HRIS systems is preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Outlook.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now and Workday is a plus.
