Voc-Customer Service Experience (Supervised by Candice Vigil)
Vocational Trainee-Customer Service Experience Program – 2Succeed
Location: Next Chapter Market Café
Shift: M-F, 10am-2pm
Pay: $19.29/hr
Learning Objectives & Competencies to be Gained
- Develop professional and empathetic communication skills
- Gain tools to remain calm and respond during a “crisis” (a situation is escalating; a person is upset or there is a medical emergency etc.)
- Learn and practice proper customer service etiquette
- Gain confidence in communicating challenges and ideas to co-workers, supervisors and managers
- Communicate tardiness and absences in a timely manner by calling the front desk and direct supervisor
- Communicate with fellow coworkers and supervisors in a professional and mindful manner
- Communicate to supervisor when supplies run low and need to be ordered
- Address the needs of people we serve in an effective and compassionate manner
- Gain inventory, cash handling and documentation skills
- Handle purchase transactions
- Inventory products
- Keep accurate records
- Learn use of new equipment
- Maintain sense of safety for one’s self and others
- Communicate needs of safety to fellow coworkers and supervisors
- Address safety concerns regarding others present in and outside of the building
- Communicate needs complaints to immediate supervisor should any medications be found, slips, trips, falls, or sticks
- Learn the importance of and maintain PHI confidentiality at all times
- Care for practical needs of our community members while they are provided services
- Articulate our protocols
- Provide answers to various questions from the people we serve and/or direct them towards the best person who can provide an answer
- Conduct equal and honest customer service and processing of items purchased
- Provide consistent and fair distribution of products and shopping opportunity for all community members
- Communicate any unethical behaviors to direct supervisor or manager
- Maintain a professional work environment
- Practice attentiveness to the needs of customers
- Assist with finding desired products
- Assist new members in understanding our Sally’s and Market Cafe services
- Uphold and communicate ethical standards of practice
Skills required for this position consist of: The ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to maintain a friendly and professional demeanor. Ensure HIPPA confidentiality standards. Willingness to learn.
Timeline to Complete program
- Training: 4-6 months
- Proficient: 5-7 months
- Completion of vocational employment: 8-10 months
- Tuberculosis (TB) screening, testing - TB screening and testing, is required and must be completed prior to hire ( i.e., preplacement), and maintained during employment
