Systems Administrator

United States

Location:  Remote (USA)

Experience Level:  Junior to Mid-level

About the Role

We are looking for a Systems Administrator to own the day-to-day administration of our employee-facing IT systems. This role is responsible for MDM and endpoint management (primarily macOS via Jamf Pro, with some Windows), Microsoft 365 administration, identity and access management, software licensing, and the onboarding and offboarding of employees. At a company of our size, this is a broad role that requires strong organizational skills, good judgment about when to escalate, and a genuine interest in keeping things running smoothly for the people around you. You will work closely with the IT Security Engineer on access governance and endpoint compliance, and with the IT Director on procurement and vendor management.

Responsibilities

  • Own MDM administration via Jamf Pro for our macOS fleet and Windows MDM for Windows endpoints; manage device enrollment, configuration profiles, software deployment, and compliance policies
  • Administer Microsoft 365 including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and Entra ID (Azure AD); manage user accounts, licensing, and group policies
  • Own the employee onboarding and offboarding process end to end: provisioning accounts across all systems, deploying and configuring hardware, and ensuring timely deprovisioning on departure
  • Manage software license inventory and renewals across SaaS platforms; track spend and renewal dates in coordination with the IT Director
  • Administer Atlassian and other SaaS platforms at the user and group administration level; enforce access policies and support access reviews
  • Handle escalated helpdesk tickets that require sysadmin-level access or judgment
  • Maintain accurate asset inventory for all employee laptops and IT equipment; coordinate hardware procurement and refresh cycles
  • Partner with the IT Security Engineer on SOC 2 access control evidence, quarterly access reviews, and endpoint compliance reporting
  • Administer Tailscale for employee remote access; manage device enrollment, tag-based ACL policies, and access key rotation; coordinate with the IT Security Engineer on offboarding revocation

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a systems administration or IT operations role
  • Hands-on experience with Jamf Pro for macOS fleet management; Jamf Certified Tech or equivalent experience preferred
  • Strong Microsoft 365 administration experience including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and Entra ID
  • Experience managing user lifecycle (onboarding/offboarding) across multiple systems in a structured way
  • Solid understanding of identity and access management concepts: groups, roles, RBAC, SSO/SAML
  • Experience with SaaS license management and software procurement
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to manage concurrent onboarding/offboarding workflows without dropping details
  • Clear written and verbal communication; comfortable working directly with employees across all technical skill levels

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Okta or a similar SSO/identity provider
  • Familiarity with Windows MDM (Intune or equivalent)
  • Exposure to SOC 2 access control requirements and access review processes
  • Scripting experience (Bash, Python, or PowerShell) for automating repetitive admin tasks
  • Experience with an ITSM ticketing platform (Jira Service Management, Freshservice, or similar)

Compensation

Compensation may vary based on location, experience, and skills. We are open to discussing total compensation including benefits, equity, and professional development budget.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
