Accountant (Hybrid—Arlington, VA)

We're looking for an experienced and highly collaborative Accountant that will be responsible for accounting duties across Voltera including assisting with financial reports, performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, assisting with audit preparations, etc. The ideal candidate can work independently, has the ability to operate in a fast-paced startup environment, and brings a high degree of critical thinking and analytical skills.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Review and analyze financial data and create reports on financial status.
  • Prepare month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing.
  • Review general ledger reports for proper coding and cutoff.
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Provide in-depth analysis of operational and project costs.
  • Review and analyze monthly variances, investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs and streamline processes.
  • Ensure compliance with sales & use tax reporting requirements.
  • Partner with the business to provide timely and accurate reports that lead to positive financial decisions.
  • Support treasury, tax, internal and external audit and analysis requests as needed.
  • Perform periodic reserve review and testing of impairment of fixed assets.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure proper recording and tracking of fixed asset acquisitions, disposals, and transfers.
  • Review and reconcile fixed asset sub-ledger to the general ledger.
  • Calculate and record depreciation for all fixed assets.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

MUST-HAVE:

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
  • 3-5+ years of experience of relevant accounting experience with a focus on fixed assets
  • Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles
  • Ability to adapt to changing business requirements
  • Experience preparing and analyzing general ledger account reconciliations
  • Strong attention to detail, reporting, communication, and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills

NICE-TO-HAVE:

  • CPA, CMA, or CPA/CMA candidate
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite)
  • Real estate industry experience

LOCATION:

  • Arlington, VA (Hybrid—2-3 days per week in office)

Compensation ($80,000 to $115,000): Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. Our total compensation package includes the base salary and competitive benefits.
