Senior Information Security Engineer

Why this role matters
We're looking for an experienced Senior Information Security Engineer to help design and implement security controls and processes that protect Vonage’s systems and data. This role is key to ensuring our information security strategy is both proactive and resilient in a rapidly evolving threat landscape.
Your key responsibilities
- Lead Security Risk Assessments: Conduct advanced risk analysis of systems, infrastructure, applications, and business processes, identifying potential vulnerabilities and threats across the organization.
- Architect & Optimize Security Controls: Design, implement, and continuously refine security controls and processes to mitigate complex risks and enhance enterprise security posture.
- Drive Policy & Governance Initiatives: Lead the development, enforcement, and evolution of information security policies, standards, and procedures in alignment with industry regulations and business objectives.
- Support Incident Response: Participate in root cause analysis and determine security improvements to address the root cause to prevent future occurrence..
- Security Architecture Leadership: Collaborate with IT, engineering, and cloud teams to define, maintain, and improve a scalable and secure architecture following industry best practices.
- Enable Security Awareness: Lead the design and delivery of comprehensive security training and awareness initiatives to promote a security-first culture across all levels of the organization.
- Mentor & Influence: Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor to junior team members, cross-functional partners, and leadership on security best practices and strategy.
What you'll bring;
Required:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field—or equivalent practical experience.
- 6+ years of progressive experience in a cybersecurity or information security engineering role, with demonstrated leadership or mentorship experience.
- In-depth knowledge of security and compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST CSF, ISO 27001, SOC2, HIPAA, PCI DSS).
- Hands-on experience with security technologies such as firewalls, EDR/XDR platforms, vulnerability management, SIEM, and MDM solutions.
- Strong expertise in securing cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure), including identity and access management, logging, encryption, and configuration management.
- Solid understanding of network architecture, protocols, and operating systems across Windows, Linux, and cloud platforms.
- Security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH, AWS Security Specialty) strongly preferred.
